10 ways to beat the heat and stay cool

The summer season inspires us to let our hair down, but in
all the fun we shouldn’t forget our health. Awareness is the first step to
protect ourselves from various health hazards in summer.
Here are some easy but important tips to keep in mind:

1. Drink plenty
of water and stay hydrated
The amount of water to be consumed varies from person to
person, depending on your diet, weight, age, etc.  The average intake should be at least 3
liters a day. The number can increase during hottest months when your body
loses more water. You should drink RO water to hinder diseases like jaundice,
cholera, typhoid, diarrhea, etc.
2.  Limit your
exposure to the sun
Summers are fun as it give us enough reasons to savor ice-
creams, refreshing cooling drinks, go swimming, wear bright hues or have some

One might get dehydrated if one is out for too long in the sun. Dehydration
affects a lot of people during summers, and some of its symptoms include

3.  Use purified water for drinking purposes

7. Choose
light cotton clothes to wear
Go for lightweight cotton clothes to wear in the scorching
heat. Wear bright colors and avoid dark colored clothes, as they are more
likely to reflect sun’s radiation.
8. Try to
keep your feet cool
There are plenty of pulse points around your feet and
ankles, so dip your feet in intervals in a bucket of cold water to keep your
body temperature down.
9. Eat a lot
of cooling foods
Including cooling foods in your diet is an excellent idea to
keep the heating up of your body in check. Some wonderful options include curd,
mint, buttermilk, watermelon, cucumber, coconut water, melons, and radish, etc.
These foods are fortified with essential vitamins and minerals, and they help
to keep you hydrated while cooling your body down.
10. Prepare
your face mist
Prepare your very own face mist by combining some cucumber,
one teaspoon of Aloe Vera, a squeeze of lemon, and one tablespoon of rosewater.
Just blend these for a minute and strain the juice through a fine muslin cloth.
Pour the mix into a bottle and your very own face mist is ready. Spray over
yourself as and when you feel like.
