Planning a trip to Goa this summer ? This post came up at the right time for you.
My daughter and I went to Goa last month and stayed at this lovely property in the heart of North Goa. This was La Estoria -IHCL Seleqtions. Not only is the property beautiful, it sits right in the center, allowing direct access to beaches, markets and clubs.
Warmest welcome
We were floored by the warm welcome by the team; with a traditional folk song being played by their in-house musicians. The reception area looked lovely with walls painted in bright hues, an open area overlooking the courtyard and an attractive bar.
The guest relations manager takes us to the first floor where our rooms are decorated for a pleasant stay. Each room at La Estoria is tastefully made with a wide sit-out area, where guests can enjoy views of swaying palm trees and enjoy fresh air.
Our twin rooms had a hand-written welcome note by the GM, which exhibited the hotel’s courteous way of welcoming guests and making them feel comfortable. There were desserts that added sweetness to the welcoming hospitality.
The room had a closet space and the mini bar, a large king-sized bed, desk and chair, and a small table with two chairs in the sit-out area where I enjoyed my cuppa in the morning.
Dining
La Estoria has a massive restaurant that is perfect for large gathering, intimate parties or corporate getaways.
When we were staying at the hotel, there was a large corporate group. In-spite of the rush, the food was delicious and freshly prepared.
They have a vast buffet spread for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The last day at the hotel, I was invited to cook my favorite dish – a pasta made with egg whites. Surprisingly, the chef and his team loved the dish.
Experiences
La Estoria curates experiences for guests who take back memories when they check out of the hotel. The most favorite part of my stay was the postcard memories; where guests are made to write a handwritten card and post it in the mailbox. The aim is to bring back the forgotten days of letter writing. They also have an interesting book club activity, where people can exchange their books & lend them.
Wellness Spa
Taj is synonymous with holistic wellness ; and La Estoria helped us to relax and unwind with the signature therapies by Tattva Spa. The soft aromatic strokes, soothing music and aromatic oils calmed my nervous system; thus helping me to relax. This was indeed the most enjoyable activity at the hotel.
Sightseeing activities
Since the hotel is strategically located, it has an easy access to local markets and cultural places. The hotel created an immersive experience to some of the most iconic places in Goa. The most amazing experience was at the Aguad fort & cellular jail. This place is worth visiting, as it takes you on the historical tour of Goa’s exisitence, the struggle and freedom. The jail, that is now a museum echoes the triumphant victory of Goan’s that was made possible through the efforts of unsung heroes like Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia, Mohan Ranade, Libia lobo Sardesai and many more. The museum exhibits the horrific tale of the lives that locals lived, under the rule of the Portugese.
Conclusion
The hotel stands tall with its immaculate hospitality, curated experiences and signature dishes. We loved our stay and would come back again the next time we visit Goa.
