Taj has always been synonymous with luxury and hospitality. The Taj Fort Aguada Goa, that happens to be the first luxury property in Goa celebrates its 50th year, celebrating a legacy of grandeur and impeccable guest relations.

So, when I got an invite to review their luxury suite in the new wing, I was delighted. Me and my daughter packed our bags for a two-night staycation at Goa’s most iconic property and looked forward to their warm hospitality.

Location

The flight landed at Goa Dabolim airport on time, and we were well received by the dedicated hotel representative, who ushered us towards our sedan. The hotel is 30-minutes away from the airport and enjoys a prime location within close proximity to some of the Goa’s most iconic landmarks. Both the Sequerim beach and Fort Aguada are a pleasant stroll away.

First Impressions

On arrival at the Taj Fort Aguada, we were welcomed with fresh air in their open lobby, that took away our tiredness instantly. Taj Fort Aquada is one of the leading design hotels in Goa. You can tell it has been sympathetically restored and lovingly modernized, and it felt impressively grand as we entered the driveway.

Style & Character

Stepping into The Taj is akin to entering a bygone era of glamour and sophistication. The grand floor’s majestic architecture, adorned with marble columns and ornate detailing, harkens back to its storied past.

The foyer of the Taj Fort Aguada is decadently attired in soothing neutrals with a stunning marble floor. To the center, as you enter, is an intimate lounge, and on the left is the front desk where they seem to magically know who you are even before you introduce yourself.

More recently, they have come up with their new wing and certain suites have been modernized. This renovation has left rooms and common spaces looking stunning. They still retain the Art Deco and could easily adorn the pages of the latest interiors magazine. Even the plush corridors are worth a mention. Adorned with Bastion of memories on the walls, which still holds all the history and glamour of decades gone by.

We adored the sea of greys and teals throughout the hotel. The décor is chic, ultra-luxurious, and formal but in a contemporary way! The surroundings still give you an intimate and cozy feel to enjoy your waiting time in the lobby.

The staff are some of the best and warmest hotel staff I have ever experienced. The service is slick from check-in to check-out. We were whisked into the luxurious lift with the Guest Relations manager, who couldn’t have made us feel more welcome.

The welcome

Taj being known for its spectacular hospitality floored us completely as we reached the suite. The staff with rose petals in hands greeted us, while the musicians welcomed us with local Goan music.

The surprise continued with the massive space in the suite. A living room in pastel hues welcomed us. The table adorned with desserts, wine and fruits complimented the charming setting of the living room. Attached balcony opened up to beautiful vistas. Overlooking the Arabian sea, the suite is perfect for a family.

We fell in love with the master bedroom. The large window with view of the sea, coconut trees and the sun setting was straight out of a romantic novel.

The en-suite washroom is generously sized, double sinks, separate baths, rainforest shower, toilet with bidet, more towels, and toiletries than you could use in a year, let alone a night, plus some nice additional features like a huge bathtub & luxury toiletry. A small balcony with loungers made it perfect for a relaxing setting with a glass of wine.

The suite has a comfy sitting area with two double sofas and a writing desk. The main TV had a rather impressive sound system. A beautiful fruit basket greeted us, and some yummy pastries were placed on the coffee table as well as a clear road sign on a plate announcing “Welcome To Taj Fort Aguada”. I fancied the sign as a souvenir.

The two awe-inspiring outdoor terraces offer panoramic views of the skyline. The new suite is an absolute must-experience. I assure you, it will provide an unforgettable and unique stay that you’re sure to remember for a long time!

SFX – Perfect for sundowners

Our day rolled out to be an interesting one, as we moved to SFX for sundowner drinks and light bites. The restaurant is stylish but relaxed with contemporary glamour and classic warmth. Interiors blend soft lighting, textured materials, and a palette of rich neutrals and pale blues, creating an inviting, upscale setting that works equally well for business lunches, special occasions, or relaxed evening dining.

The sun with an ombre shade matched with our cocktails – mysterious, yet dreamy. The place is perfect to simply sit and take in the soothing shades of sunset while enjoying innovative cocktails.

J Wellness Circle – An elevated spa experience

Our evening was all set for a spa experience by J wellness. A cart takes us to a beautiful setting with well landscape garden, calming vibe and wellness eleements. The therapists usher us to our room on the first floor. The tranquil setting continues its magic in the changing room that has a jacuzzi, steam, sauna and shower.

I glide into the plush robes and move towards the therapy room, where my therapist welcomes me with folded hands. Her welcoming demeanor and soft hands work like magic on my tired legs. The subtle yet powerful strokes move in a circular motion, taking away my stiffness and relaxing me completely. I have never felt this relaxed in years. Not only my body, but my soul was also rejuvenated. After a nice steam and sauna, we were refreshed.

Dinner at Camino

A feast was set for us at their Italian restaurant, where we indulged in some authentic Italian flavors. The menu focuses on modern European cuisine with French and Italian influences, seasonal produce, and elegant presentation. Signature dishes include lobster, risotto, or slow-roasted lamb with Provençal herbs, all made with finesse but not overworked. This place is a destination in its own right, with a carefully curated cocktail list, classic pours, and a wine selection designed to pair beautifully with the menu. It’s chic, calm, and understated. The ravioli and fish we had were made to perfection with the right herbs and dressing, making them pair well with cocktails.

Yoga at Bay View

At the crack of dawn, I woke up to some of the most astounding views of the Arabian sea – gushing with power. The sight of swaying palm trees, with sunlight seeping through added a smile on my face.

I looked forward to the yoga class at the Bay View point – on the top of the cliff, with manicured gardens and a gorgeous view of the Arabian sea. The yoga movements and gentle deep breathing helped me to feel centered and calm, while the fresh air helped me to relax further.

Breakfast at Kokum Restaurant

Kokum offers an expansive menu of Indian and continental cuisines. The breakfast spread is humongous with wide variety of dishes, fruits, juices, cakes, breads, live egg station and South Indian varieties. We love their variety of eggs while watching the views outside.

Workshops & activities lined up

Taj always comes with interesting ways to keep guests entertained. We were taken on the top of the cliff at Bay View point for zip lining activity and rock climbing. They have a dedicated team that helps guests to enjoy the experience with ease.

We also loved their water sports. The adrenaline was high and we loved our experience. Later, we went for some pickle ball game, followed by a leisurely bicycle ride in the property.

Goan cuisine at Morisco

The Morisco restaurant is all about traditional Goan flavors, platters and sea food paired with soul curry, kokum, innovative mocktails and fruit punches. The setting of the restaurant matched well with the warm hospitality. The flavors of the vegetarian platter pleased us its aroma and taste. Each dish was vibrant and had a distinctive flavor.

High tea on the cliff

The team surprised us with a lovely high tea set-up at the Bay View. There was a beautiful spread of cheese platter, fruits, muffins, croissants, tea and drinks served by a personal butler. Watching the sun set, with drinks in our hands was an experience worth being cherished.

The evenings were all about cooling off in their massive swimming pool, accompanied by mocktails. It was a delight to watch the sun setting while cooling off in the pool.

Interactive Workshops

There are workshops outsourced like paint and sip at SFX, pottery and wood crafting near the poolside that adds to the memorable moment during the stay.

Conclusion

The Taj Fort Aguada is a true gem among the city’s luxury hotels, offering a perfect fusion of historical grandeur, contemporary elegance, extensive facilities, and impeccable service. Being the most iconic property, the legacy of Taj continues with its massive space, vibrant lounge, breezy corridor and warmest hospitality. The staff is always at their best serving us with warm smiles, giving their hundred percent in their service. Every aspect of the hotel is designed to indulge and delight, from its sumptuous accommodations and extensive dining options to that heavenly spa.
