Jungle Jamboree – A seven course meal in a jungle

The Jungle Jamboree located on
the 2
nd floor of the Gold Souk mall is usually seen buzzing with
corporates for weekday lunches and families for dinners on weekends. The restaurant
is covered in two floors that are connected well through a small staircase
within the restaurant. It is decorated in a jungle theme with a natural grass
looking carpet.

The ambiance is great with a
feeling of a jungle surrounded by animals. As you enter the restaurant, the
greenery surrounding the place pleases your eyes. For a minute, you feel lost
in the jungle themed place. Although the space at the ground level is not so
large, but it has been decorated well. There are sitting arrangements of four
and six covers spaced up well while a private dining area for large corporates
and families at one corner give ample privacy. A large aquarium in the centre
divides the two areas in the restaurant that give children a fantastic time.
If you like some fresh air, you
can move towards the upper floor of the restaurant that has an open air dining
area. A live kitchen counter with a buffet table is spread in the centre that
has lip smacking varieties of Indian and Chinese food. On a corner, a large
children’s area is set up that keeps kids occupied, while their parents enjoy
the cool breeze and the delicious buffet.
The specialty of Jungle Jamboree
is not just the ambiance but also the food. The seven-course meal is priced decently
at Rs. 495 for a vegetarian meal without liqueur. Jungle jamboree does not serve
any liquor, but the mojito cocktail they serve is quite good.

The starters are massive and the
servers are very hospitable in serving the guests. You must come to this place
with an empty stomach if you want to enjoy all the delicacies. The options for
vegetarian and non-vegetarian are impressive. A fresh start with a fruity skewer
of pineapple, papaya and musk melon is appetizing and paves way for the next
starter.

The Indian papri is served
with a hint of green chutney and curd that is immensely pleasing. An option of
chicken and veg manchow soup is offered at Jamboree. If you are a
non-vegetarian, try the chicken soup as it tastes much better than the veg. The
starters continue with murgh malai tikka, soy kebabs, fish chilly were served
hot and tasted well.

The main course comprised of a
sharp contrast of Chinese, Thai and Indian. We were served butter chicken,
fish, paneer with Indian breads, while the Thai dish comprising the Thai curry
was the winner as it tasted heavenly with the perfect aroma of lemon grass. The
sweet note to the fabulous meal ended with a scrumptious pan flavored ice cream
and later concluded with a pan shot, a specialty of the restaurant. The pan
shot is a concoction of milk, saffron, cardamoms, paan patta and gulkand. It
was the best thing that shall remain in my mind forever.
