Devang House: A Perfect Melange of Taste and Health

When it comes to organic food, I
have personally always been a big supporter and try to eat it as often as I
can.  Although we are still limited with
restaurants in Delhi that are entirely organic, you will find there are plenty
of chefs that like to use organic ingredients in their dishes.

I was pleasantly
surprised to visit Devang House to review the Organic Sunday Brunch pop up. Devang meaning “Beings of Light” is a healthy café like no
other, and I would consider it as the best organic place in Delhi. As you enter
the health haven, a scintillating aroma and positive ambiance greet you with
warmth.

Green hues from the verdant landscape seep in through clean glass
windows, while the musical instruments placed on the stage enthrall you with entertaining
musical notes.
Speaking of music, soft classical music is usually played in the
background that is equally alluring.
The pastel shaded walls compliment well
with the white furniture that whisk you to a midsummer night’s dream. The cozy
space looks beautiful for an intimate lunch with your partner or even with besties
for a healthy meal.
Devang is a mélange of health and
style. So every corner breathes elements of wellness and positivity.  Not only does it look peaceful and elegant,
but all their fresh produce – including vegetables, fruit and dairy used in
the café kitchens – comes direct from their organic farm.
The concept is a real
‘farm-to-fork’ organic dining experience without having to get the Hunter boots
on.
Founded by Tejas and his mother, Devang
House was an answer to their concerns over healthy lifestyle.
My daughter and I went last weekend
to Devang House to sample the amazing Sunday Brunch popup menu – of which I can
highly recommend to people who love healthy eating. The staff was friendly and
instantly made us feel incredibly welcome and valued. The Restaurant manager,
Mr. Amit welcomed us warmly and made us feel at ease. The seating arrangement
is very cozy and the furniture is extremely comfortable.
The Sunday Organic Brunch pop up
included a five course menu with a choice of drinks, salads, appetizers, mains
and desserts. Dishes are unpretentious and prepared with a lot of care,
attention and an eye for visual appeal.
The summer drinks included two
bright and delicious varieties of coolers made naturally devoid of sugar. I loved
the Iced Tulsi tea while my daughter relished the Iced lemon tea. The Glass
Noodle and vegetable Broth that followed was deliciously savory.
The roast pumpkin, pear and
walnut salad prettily presented and topped with sliced feta cheese is substantial
yet miraculously light and un-stodgy. It had a pleasantly nutty taste and
somewhat chewy texture that was delicious.
The grilled beans and roasted
bell peppers salad with sun dried tomato dressing is a bright rainbow-hued
salad that looked simply beautiful.
You can barely taste any of the dressings,
but on the other hand their understated use makes the salads sprightly rather
than soggy.
Appetizers included Ragi Pita
with Spiced hummus and picked vegetables. The hummus was made from sprouted
chickpeas. The Ragi Pita was slightly warm and was perfectly accompanied by a
mix of the freshest and creamiest hummus I have ever tasted.
The besan chilla
and garlic tomato chutney screams of healthy ingredients mixed together to
bring out this incredible mix of goodness.
The soft texture of chilla goes well
with a simple chutney made with pure and ripe tomatoes. The appam and stew is a
magical mélange of fine presentation and great taste. I finished it till the
last bite and was intensely satisfied.
The dessert included a carrot
cake with coconut almond cream. The slice of cake was decorated and presented
beautifully; the creamy texture melted in my mouth and left a coconut flavor
that instantly

reminded me of my childhood days.

Almond flavors were hidden
within the cake that really finished off the entire experience on a beautiful note. A warm cup of masala tea accentuated
the experience to a higher level. The experience was mesmerizing and made me
feel connected to Devang House more than any other place in Delhi. I left the
place on a satiated and happy note to return back for more such beautiful experiences.
