Cocktails and Dreams Speakeasy

A secret is always cherished till
it remains one; but there are some that are endured even when they are out.
Speaking of secrets, the new craze in Gurgaon has got the suburb talking loud and
how! Cocktails and dreams Speakeasy, a restro bar in sector 15, Gurgao is
becoming quite a craze with youngsters.

I chose to visit the place on a weekday
and reached there by 8. The entrance is quaint until you move towards the
basement that welcomes you with metal music and dim lights. I was greeted by
the owners, Minakshi Singh and Yangdup Lama.

A mixologist and an entrepreneur,
Yangdup Lama is a smart young man who heads Cocktails & Dreams  – a bar service, beverage consultancy company and
bartending school for aspiring professionals. Yangdup carries with him 17 years
of experience in bartending and renders the same expertise to Speakeasy.
Minakshi, the bubbly co-owner is
a bright and ambitious young woman with an experience in liquor marketing. The
duo stepped in the niche market to stand out and discovered Speakeasy about a
year and half and conceptualized an unconventional place to enjoy drinking.

As I looked around the place,
it exuded a magnificent charm of the Prohibition Era of the 1920s. Following
the popular “Speak easy” concept, the bar space engulfs diners with Bootleggers,
Rum Runners and Moonshiners. The place transcends you to the “Golden Age of
Cocktails” with an endless selection ranging from the top of the line
“Classics” down to the “New Age” straights.

Our tryst with taste started
with an interesting cocktail. The bartender makes a scrumptious concoction of
fruits and vodka devoid of any artificial syrup and served it with ice. To
munch on, Minakshi suggested some interesting finger foods to start with. The
fish and chicken skewer are delectable starters that are served with zatsky.
Marinated in mustard oil and pepper, the grilled Basa fish and chicken tasted
good.
Later, we were served flaky
fried chicken. The chicken dampened our appetite as it was not well cooked and
lacked flavor in spite of marinating it.
If you are on a diet, make
sure you order the Green leafy nutty salad. Tossed with honey and nuts, the salad
is perfect for weight watchers. The crunchiness of the greens are retained well
while giving a flavor of freshness.
Soup lovers must try the
broccoli soup. The broccoli is boiled and shredded making it a thick broth that
is further accentuated with a generous amount of cream thereby taking the soup
to an altogether different level. The flavor of broccoli is retained quite
well.

The main course that we had
was homemade chicken tortillas. The dough, unfortunately wasn’t done well and
tasted rather rough, while the chicken inside wasn’t satisfying either. The crisp
vegetables were not helpful and the roll wasn’t wrapped well. Overall the dish
failed to impress!
The other main  course that we had was the flat bread with chicken
and vegetable topping that seemed fine.

Have scintillating cocktails amidst great music and flattering ambiance here.
