Gold cup amidst glamourous invitees at Jaipur polo ground

For two
years, the Delhi polo season’s most prestigious polo cup, Cavalry Gold Cup, had
been given a skip in the absence of new sponsors and participants – but giving
the Cup a new lease of life in 2013 has been Under One Roof Hotel Consultants,
as this 10-goal tournament came to a glorious finale on the weekend, with
Jindal Panthers defeating Hyderabad’s SSC 7-5.

The
consultancy firm comes from an Army (Cavalry) background and decided to take up
the Cup to ensure that the continuity of the Cup is not disrupted. Partnering
Under One Roof’s initiative are Mini Cooper (by Bird Automotive) with their
Mini Convertible and Thailand Tourism.

The
weekend at the Jaipur polo grounds
A
comfortable autumn afternoon, a mild breeze gently blowing against the garden
umbrellas, highlights of flowers and greens by Navrasas dotting the high-tea
area and two action-packed matches marked an interesting weekend at the Jaipur
polo Grounds. One of the only two tournaments not named after a polo patron,
and instead named to honour the keepers of the sport – the Indian cavalry, The
Cavalry Gold Cup had an attendance of 500 people across High Commissions and
Embassies, corporates, hospitality professionals, designers, friends and
families.

MDs of
Under One Roof, Sonia and Manu Mohindra, shared the front row with the
President of the Indian Polo Association – Gen Munish Sibal, and Sonia’s
parents – Col and Mrs Chowdhary. Also a part of the day’s proceedings were MP
and Jindal team Captain- Naveen Jindal, MD of RadioOne, Vineet Singh Hukmani,
Assistant Director of Thailand Tourism – Chanyuth Sawetsuwan, who also gave
away two luck draw tickets and hotel packages to Thailand.
