and lung health. The event was being held from 15th to
17th November at Cyber Hub, Gurugram where a Blueair home
experience zone was created with the entire range of air purifiers on
display.

The first day of the event saw
over 100 people gather and holding their breath for few seconds to experience
the importance of breathing freely and the repercussions it would have if we
are unable breathe clean air. There were free lung health checkups conducted by
Artemis Hospital. Which will be followed by ~10,000 (Ten Thousand) Blueair N95

Speaking on this occasion, Mr.
Arvind Chabra, Country Head, Blueair India
, said, “Delhi NCR being one of
the most polluted cities in India, it is very essential to identify the
Invisible dangers of breathing polluted air. Outdoor pollution that sweeps in
along with the combination of existing indoor pollutants can be up to 5 times
more polluted. Air purifiers are one of the effective solutions to keep the
indoor air healthy always.
With superior HEPASilent™ technology, Blueair air
purifiers empower individuals to take control of their indoor air by removing
99.97% of the air pollutants down to 0.1 Micron removing all bacteria, virus,
fine dust causing respiratory illness and other diseases We can take proactive,
individual steps to head off airborne pollutants to create safer indoor
environments.”
Dr. Himanshu Garg, Director of
Pulmonology at Artemis Hospital, further added,
“Chronic Obstructive
Pulmonary Disease (COPD) is a term used to describe a group of lung diseases
which includes chronic bronchitis, emphysema and asthma. It is the sixth
largest killer and soon going to be 3 rd. largest killer’s patients present
with breathlessness and coughing most with expectoration. This was normally
thought be due to smoking but now pollution is thought to be a strong
contributor leading to a Increase by 25% in recent months. We need to improve
access for these patients to seek help early to decrease their morbidity.
Strong measures need to be taken to decrease the smoking rates and to control
pollution levels in order to deal with this epidemic”
Air pollution is a major
environmental and health problem affecting all age groups. People with
medical conditions such as respiratory problems, and children are the most
vulnerable to air pollution. The levels of particulate matter (PM) 2.5 have
serious health implications such as asthma, bronchitis, chronic respiratory
symptoms including, shortness of breath, painful breathing, and premature
deaths as these tend to get lodged in the lung and can even enter the
bloodstream.
According to the World Health
Organization (WHO), globally around 65 million people suffer from moderate to
severe COPD. Out of this, 3 million succumbed to COPD in 2005 and experts
estimate that by 2030 it will be the third most common cause of deaths.
