Boombox – The ‘Wow’ factor

On a usual weekday evening,
after a hard day at work, what could be nicer than to bag yourself a table in a
beautiful café  where you enter and let
your hair down. To add in the romance, you can indulge in a glass of soft,
fruity Italian red wine and a freshly made pizza.

Opened barely three months ago in
the happening food arena of Sector 29, Gurgaon, Boombox eschews the contemporary
seating arrangement and an ambiance to make your usual day funky and exciting.
Boombox has already become a busy venue for
all kinds of diners, from the couple seeking solace, an office executive
willing to enjoy a couple of beers, or a gang of youngsters willing to chill
out.  This place is perfect for any
reason.
Reaching the place is not so
difficult. While you enter the wide parking area on a weekend, chances are
you might struggle for parking, but on a weekday there is ample space to park. We
took the lift and reached the first floor where we were greeted by the
hospitable attendants.
As I entered the space on the
first floor, I was enchanted by the funky look and feel. The soft lightining,
opulent spacing between dining tables and the wide open bar enticed me further.
The restaurant had a very positive vibe to it. Families and couples could be
seen enjoying their food and drinks.
The menu is something of a
triumph. We made our choices and moved on to the starters. With a large variety
to peruse per page, we decided to let the Manager decide the hot selling
starters.
The appetizer consisted of a Veg
Mezze platter which was spicy and colorful because of the interesting variety
of dips to accompany the pita and falafel. This dish really did it for me; the pita
bread was so tender and tantalizing that I devoured it till the last bite.
The highlight of Boombox Café is a
magician who comes every Tuesday. His perfect comic timings and cleverness were
brilliantly displayed through personal interaction with guests on each table.
We relished our starters with mocktails
that the bartenders prepared for us. The bruchettas ordered next was a perfect
amalgamation of warmth and freshness.
Six large pieces unlike the usual
bruchettas are served with basil leaves as toppings with cheese and olives. Bruchettas
might be something you have had earlier, but these ones totally surpassed all
of them with respect to the taste and crunchiness.
The starters reflected the
great quality and freshness of the meal and we looked forward to the further
review. A delight to the taste buds was the Mexicana Pizza. The thin crust of
the pizza matches up with the tomatoes and basil leaves as toppings making it
the perfect combination of taste and presentation.
The fish tacos are interesting in
presentation and delectable to eat. The fish is done perfectly well and the dressing
accentuates the taste. I loved the Kolkattawala chicken that simply satiates
the desire for crispy chicken and tossed vegetables.
The last epiphany of the rhythmic
tune was the dessert. A chocolate brownie with ice cream was the perfect ending
to the meal. The entire food review was an experience never to be forgotten.
