SUJÁN Rajmahal Palace – An epitome of elegance

Suja’n Rajmahal Palace is delighted to announce the addition of SUJÁN Rajmahal Palace, Jaipur in theheart of the fabled ‘Pink City’. Originally built in 1729 by the Maharaja of Jaipur, the Palace has stood witness to over two hundred years of history.

In 1821, Rajmahal became the official residence of the British Resident Political Officer of Rajputana and in 1958 HH Maharaja Sawai Man Singh II – the celebrated and dashing ‘Jai’ – chose it as his private residence.

Over the decades this remarkable ‘Grande Dame’ has hosted Her Majesty the Queen & the Duke of Edinburgh along with several other members of the British Royal Family. Celebrated personalities such as Jackie Kennedy, Lord & Lady Mountbatten and many of the international ‘jet set’ have been part of the history of the Palace.

SUJÁN in its latest avatar is completely redesigned and refurbished with vigorous flair by the highly acclaimed and accomplished designer Adil Ahmad. Specially commissioned for this unique task by The Royal Family of Jaipur, Adil is also the Creative Director of Charbagh, GoodEarth.

Adil has been inspired by The City Palace, the inner sanctum and current residence of the Jaipur Royals. The design elements include the use of traditional royal motifs, family crests, sensuous fabric and old world art pieces. The classic architecture and modern sensibility of the designer has culminated in a myriad of colours, soft poetic pastels, blues, greens and pinks in his eclectic and dominating style sense.

Set in sprawling gardens, the SUJÁN Rajmahal Palace with its original, stunning marble staircase, intricate chandeliers, and mirrored ceilings will initially comprise of 20 suites and rooms, two distinct restaurants, a bar, swimming pool, as well as a SUJÁN Spa.
