Shri Radha Brij Vasundhara Resort and Spa – A Unique Urban Resort in Mathura

The recent concept of luxury
resort allowed an opulent hotel generation to be born,
offering to the luxe traveler coming to Mathura a large oasis of
relaxation and magnificence. Shri Radha Brij Vasundhara Resort and Spa embodies
perfectly this trend, in the heart of the mystical Govardhan Parvat (Hill) in Mathura.
Settled in God’s abode, the Resort
and Spa can be reached by road though the Yamuna Expressway in barely 3 hours. The resort is 5-minutes walking from the Govardhan
Parvat and is actually the very first luxury resort that gives the best of two
worlds: the convenience to be close to everything like a regular hotel and
the sensation to stay in a world apart, away from the busy city.

Mathura  is such a busy and crowded city that you have
to find secluded places for making a break, a kind of cocoon where you can
pamper yourself and just relax. The moment our cab reached the gateway of heaven,
I was overwhelmed with the stunning landscaping. Few steps before entering the
lobby you have to pass through the lush green belt that is impressive, well
maintained and fresh to the eyes.

The huge lobby itself is simply
stunning with a brilliant contemporary design, creating an atmosphere of luxury
and serenity to the overall ; it also reinforces the sensation of being in a
resort. The restaurant adjoining the lobby at the end has a very uncommon
layout that has a 180 degree view over the resort. After I checked in, my room
keys were handed over to me. I was escorted to the room in a golf cart.

I stayed in a beautiful cottage
offering a studio-concept space with a beautiful view of the central garden.
Wooden floor, silk curtains and furniture, decent bathroom area – amenities by the
resort and spa – and great lightning design are the key points that make
it worth the money you spend in indulgence.
You can feel the resort-like
ambiance thanks to the attention of detail and the coherence with other areas. A
warm welcome by the resort in the form of assorted fruits and biscuits add to
the luxury touch.
After a shower and a quick change,
I moved towards the restaurant to satiate my appetite. The restaurant seemed
closed as I wasn’t able to find any server; however, thankfully an attendant
came to my rescue with a menu in his hand.

My appetite had reached its peak, so
I ordered for paneer and daal with raita and rotis. The food is decent enough. The
service is slow and steady but served with a warm smile that makes the culinary
odyssey pleasant enough.

After a heart lunch, I retire to the
room for a short snooze. I got up feeling fresh and moved to spa which was
barely a few steps away. The resort and spa has an unparallel level of luxury
and its spa is no exception. Once arrived, I was greeted by a smiling staff who
gives me a form to fill and a spa menu to select my preferred therapy. The
decadent spa is a sanctuary of understated glamour. While you wait at the sleek
white and beige space, there are magazines for guests to pass time while the therapists
make the room ready.

The treatment I chose was a scub,
massage, mask and a facial. The therapist ushers me to the therapy room and passes
on plush robes and slippers to glide into. The staff at the spa is well experienced
in this field.  The services match the
opulent décor.
The signature three-hour Spa
Journey involved an exfoliating blueberry and cherry scrub, that is applied on
the body in gentle circular motions which is then followed by steam and shower.

The Shiatsu-inspired massage with aroma oils made the experience more heavenly.
The knots in my back and legs seemed to subside as the therapist was pacifying
the pain. The mask made with blueberry and cherry followed, while she started
the facial with Dead Sea Minerals.  The
sensation is supremely calming that has a relaxing effect on muscles and
nerves.

The therapeutic effects of mineral-rich waters
have been known since time immemorial. The mask was removed from my body and
after a shower, I could feel my skin springy, soft, and ultra moisturized. I
was rejuvenated indeed. The spa manager offered me herbal tea to accentuate the
tranquil sensation.
The golf cart was waiting to take
me around the resort and spa. The five essential elements of Nature can easily
be witnessed here. The resort has been creatively chalked out in the shape of a
tree.

The entrance and the path way that follows resembles to the shaft of a
timber. Each branch along the trunk
guides to a cluster of 24 cottages along with a water body. Every cluster is named
after an Indian river. A small temple at the far end adds a mystical note to
the resort which you should not miss. The flaura and fauna are at their best but
what made me fall in love with the place was the wide variety of birds chirping
on each tree. It was beautiful indeed!

It was time to visit the small
city of Mathura. Our guide, Sangeet Singh who hails from Rajasthan was the
chosen one to take us around. We took an auto rickshaw that was a convertible
Hero Honda motorbike.

The driver took us around the Govardhan parvat while
Sangeet, the guide explained every detail of the importance of visiting the
place. We could see devotees bowing down and lying on the path to seek
blessings from the Lord. A quick visit to the different temples around made me
familiar and friendly with the city.

We returned back to the resort
and moved to the restaurant where an exotic Chinese fare awaited us. The dinner
was fine and we moved back to our respective rooms for a good night’s sleep.

The bed was soft and comfortable
and I slept like a baby. I got up pretty early and looked out of the window to
be greeted by a warm sunny morning. This was the perfect excuse to take a dip
in the pool. I moved towards the lobby area which has a recreation center
comprising of all indoor games you can think about.
The indoor pool and Jacuzzi are
the best ways to cool off during summer days and I did exactly that. The pool
is well maintained and hygienic. After a shower,  I moved on towards the restaurant for
breakfast. There were cut fruits and a large spread of breakfast options like
breads, poha, potato curry and puris.

The breakfast was indeed
satiating. It wasn’t long that I decided to explore the city more. So we planned
to visit the Deeg Palace that was 25 Kms away from the resort.

The magnificent aura and grandeur
of the Maharajas is easily depicted in the craftsmanship of the palace. From the
moment we entered, a serene vibe transcended us to the era of Kings where life
was majestic.

Our journey back to the resort
was filled with conversations on the Maharaja’s opulent lifestyle. We reached the
resort and after a quick lunch headed back to the life in the metro which I had
left behind during my stay. Every aspect of the resort and spa is magnificence beyond
compare. The hospitality takes you to a different level while the service is
satisfying enough to remain in your minds forever.
The holy
city is blessed with a luxury haven for travelers who are religious and love to
splurge!
