Sagar Ratna entices weight watchers with a healthy menu

The scorching summers of June makes
it impossible to venture out in the open. But thanks to food havens, we get
variety of food and a cool places to be comfortable in. Talking about food, I would always
prefer South Indian cuisine.

My eyes stopped at Sagar Ratna in the heart of CP.
Their new menu is an innovative way to introduce healthy and delicious food to
diners.

Located amidst the bustling space
of the outer circle in K Block, CP, Sagar Ratna is a treat for South Indian
food lovers. As we approach the restaurant, I could smell the heavenly fragrance
of South Indian delicacies that lured me further in.

The ambiance is simple and
definitely needs some improvement with respect to flooring and wall color but
the hospitality is amazing. Guests are always taken care of quite well here.

We ordered the Kuli Paniyaram that
came accompanied with three different chutneys namely coconut, mint and tomato.

The Kuli Paniyaram won hands down with its fillings of curry leaves, onions, and
mustard seeds. The spicy flavor and pungent aroma gives an overall tangy twist.

Drinks from the menu that
appealed to us were the humble buttermilk and fresh watermelon juice. The
buttermilk made with a concoction of mint, curry leaves and ice was heavenly
while the watermelon juice refreshed my parched throat.
We resumed our culinary journey
with Idli Chaat. The idlis are stir fried and served with pomegranate, chutney
and saambhar. Next, we ordered the Pesarattu
MLA dosa. The dosa is made with raagi and has stuffings of vegetables and
cottage cheese.

The highlight of this healthy dosa is that it’s softness matches
with the consistency and flavor of the fillings.The appam was my favorite with
its soft texture served with korma. The hot appams & korma created an
epiphany that stirred our souls.

We closed the deal with Payassam and Gadbad sundae. The Paruppu payassam, a perfect concoction of milk and sugar
perfected with dry fruits was the perfect answer to end the meal on a sweet
note, while the vaguely named gadbad sundae was a delightful mix of mango flavored
ice cream topped with nuts, that complimented the entire experience.
