Navratri Thaali Experience @ ITC Maurya – A Luxury Collection Hotel

Navratris are all about purity of
the mind, body and soul. The prayers for nine avatars of Goddess help us in
combating fear and embracing belief. While devouring food at home, we are
aware about the ingredients and utensils, but extra precaution needs to be
taken when we eat outside. when I received an invitation to review the
Navratri thaali @ ITC Maurya, I was sure the food would be as pure and simple.
We reached the place on one of the 4th
day of the Navratras and were elated with the simple flavors of the thaali.
The Review:
 
ITC Maurya is synonymous with
luxury. The hotel promotes an eco friendly environment while adding the luxury
elements to each part of the hotel. The entrance with its high ceilings is as
scintillating as the upholstery. The charm exuded in the hospitality always
adds an extra point to the property.
Their award winning restaurant – Pavilion
 is spread out quite well, offering
space, comfort and privacy to diners.
The wide area has tables that are well
laid and decently spaced. The place is perfect for a huge family gathering,
couples or even business clients. We could see a big group of diners who were
enjoying the buffet spread while we took our seats.
The live station has smiling artisans
who could be seen pleasing palettes of diners with succulent meals. We ordered for a watermelon and
pineapple juice.
A little later, the
F&B Manager arrived and welcomed us with a warm smile. The menu that he was
carrying comprised of the Navratra Thali
that had a very interesting Oriental twist to it. A little later, there were two Thalis
served – A traditional one and an Oriental one. The traditional Navratri Thali
consisted of dishes made with pure ingredients while the Oriental thaali had an avant-garde element thus
creating an unparalleled culinary experience.
The delicacies in the dishes included
shahi paneer, aloo ki subji, sabudana
kheer, samvak chawal, kottu poori. The toothsome sabudana papad placated our taste buds. The shahi paneer with tangy flavors stood out, while the aloo ki subji  prepared with ghee and cumin seeds stole my
heart. They were both succulent.
We relished the dishes with kuttu ki poori and samvak chawal that matched well with the simple ingredients of the
dishes. The sabudana kheer was the
perfect closure to the saatvik meal. It
is a refreshing change to the usual take on regular kheer.
On the other hand, the Oriental Thaali had a fabulous twist to the usual delicacies. There were dishes like Som Tam, Crispy Lotus Stem, Honey chilli potato, Vegetable Fried rice and Kafir Lime Galangal sago pudding.
I fell in love with honey chilli potato and admired the creativity of the chef in creating such a unique combination. The Crispy Lotus Stem were equally delicious , but the star of the show was the Kafir Lime Galangal sago pudding.
The Thaali experience @ ITC Maurya was a blissful odyssey where I experienced peace and satisfaction in each bite.
