Luxury redefined amidst natural habitat – Presenting Aahana, Jim Corbett

Lush bright trees swaying, birds
flying high in the sky, flowers blooming at their best, fresh crisp air to
scintillate your senses and play with your skin – this is not a romantic
description from a novel, but an experience  in Aahanaresort, Jim Corbet.

The weather was apt for a holiday in Jim Corbett and to
enjoy the onset of summers in a luxury resort, Aahana was the perfect choice.

Settled neatly on the main road
of the Jim Corbett road, lies the luxury abode that celebrates the magnificence
of nature’s beauty with a dash of luxury.

As the car moves in the driveway,
there are trees at both ends bowing down and welcoming us. Yes, Mother Nature
is at its vibrant best here. Aahana is beautiful with its expansive area that
overlooks villas and cottages suitable for small and large families.
Aahana has facilities including a special unit where meetings and conference can be set up, a spa
with all traditional
therapies, a golf area, volleyball and basketball courts, kids’ play area, TT
and billiards rooms and a large swiming pool. The carriage at the porch took my attention right away. It looked
beautiful in its buggy style.

Reception area

The reception spells magic. A
welcome drink of Rhodendron juice was just the perfect quencher to our tiring
journey. We drank it down to the last bit and were truly enthralled with the
flavor.

We were allotted a small cottage,
perfectly apt for family of three. As we walked towards the cottage, we were
completely taken away by the breathtaking surroundings. An interesting sign
that I read was “we do not cut trees, so that we can have flowers that can attract
more birds & butterflies.”The sign touched my heart. This resort was indeed eco-friendly. The thoughts behind those words
truly amaze me. This in comparison to the uncountable cutting of trees is
simply a wonderful initiative to promote flaura and fauna. I admire Aahana’s
initiative indeed.
The cottage soon arrived! The
size was cute but the view from the balcony was amazing. While the front side
overlooked the complete resort view, the backside threw open a vast view of the
thick jungle. I sat there to absorb the raw beauty with a cup of green tea.
The room had every amenity of a
luxury resort that included a large bed, a large washroom, LCD T.V, fruit
basket, savories and a well-stocked fridge. We were super hungry so we decided to move for
lunch in the restaurant. The place was huge, with a decent cover space that had a
fabulous view of the resort from every angle. While some seats faced the cottages,
others overlooked the large pool. We sat near the window that gave the pool
view.
The servers attended us warmly. A
glass of fresh buttermilk with a hint of mint and ginger was served before us
that tasted heavenly. We moved on towards the buffet table that had a mix of Indian and
continental dishes. We savored the Indian vegetables like daal, paneer, chicken, fish accompanied by rice, rotis, pickles and salads.

The heavy meal made us sleepy and
we moved towards to the cottage. The soft mattress and comfortable pillows made
us snooze like a baby. The large window gave a spectacular view of the clouds
that failed to cover the sun entering our room.

Soon, it was dusk and
I went for a swim. The pool was big and had a few more guests enjoying
themselves. I was there for a while enjoying the warm sun and cold water.
After a few laps in the pool, I chanced to see the
beautiful sun getting a red blush. It was settling down and the reddish orange
shade scattered its way through the mighty clouds making the sky look
beautiful.

I captured the beautiful setting sun in my camera and went to the cottage to wear something warm. The rain gods were in a mood to play with us. A slight downpour
changed the weather drastically making the temperature cold. By this time, our
shawls & pullovers were out and we moved on to enjoy a bonfire in the lawn
of Aahana. The weather was chilly and we were enjoying every bit of the performance
by the guitarists who entertained us with fabulous retro numbers.

With warm snacks and chilled
drinks at the bonfire, the evening was simply perfect. We were transcended to
heaven with the immaculate hospitality and the beautiful environment of the
resort. It was dinnertime. The buffet spread with Indian and continental dishes
gave us ample options to choose. We settled for some yummy Chinese food that
was cooked well by the talented chefs of the resort.

Night ushered in. Before
moving towards the cottage, we preferred to walk around the resort. The chilly
winds would continue and the deep silence murmured us sweet nothings in our
ears. The skies became clear by now and the moon shone beautifully on the resort.
Such a picturesque scene seemed right out from a romantic novel – Beautiful!
We were up by dawn even before
the wake –up call. The birds tweeted as the alarm, while the sun shone brightly
at six in the morning straight into the room. This was a beautiful start of the
day. I looked forward to our bird watching activity planned by the Guest Relations Executive. We had the chance to see some of the most exotic birds in
the resort itself. The sight looked beautiful with giant trees in a huge
variety and birds sitting on them. There are cycles at the porch for guests. I
got a chance to hop on one and ride in the resort. The experience was amazing.
As I walked on the road, the
fresh and crisp air teased my face while the lush green fields beamed with
glee. The animals could be found in the fields grazing happily. We happened to
see deers and elephants marching their way towards the forest looking for their
breakfast.
The walk ignited our appetite and
we looked forward to a hot breakfast at the resort. After a warm shower, I
walked towards the restaurant that had the finest breakfast ready for us.
Poached eggs and a Southern breakfast comprising of poha, idlis and vadas
looked delicious. We took our seats and gorged hungrily. After the breakfast,
we went around the resort looking at other villas and cottages. While some were
perfect for a family holiday, others were cozy for a small family.
The resort looks beautiful in the
morning and at night. With luxury amenities thrown in, the natural habitat is
preserved as well that does immense justice to promote eco-tourism.

Aahana is a resort I would like
to recommend to people who love Nature as I do. Go there and enjoy the bounties
of nature amidst luxury setting.
