Londoners – A Chic Bistro in GK

Located in the bustling market of GK 1 M Block market, Londoners sits pretty with its three storey food haven. Located just in the center, this place is beautiful in a comfortable kind of way. As you walk up the stairs, an ambiance straight from a London restaurant welcomes you.

Two things make for the magic at
any restaurant: (1) the food, and (2) the music that plays in the background.
Londoners delighted me with these two.
The art deco interior with mini
buses, cars and trucks are shifted from the London pathways pinned on the
bright colored walls.  One wall is full of the different modes of
transport. Londoners feels like the breezy yet cozy home of a hospitable London
family friend, familiar and full of warmth.
We took the table next to the
window to get an overview of the posh market of GK M Block. As passerby could
be seen shopping in the soaring temperature of the scorching heat of Delhi, we sat
in the cool environment of Londoners with a mojito, iced lemon tea with cinnamon
and a draught beer.
The fantastic menu etches a conjugation
of the British, Indian and a dash of continental. The description of dishes would
indicate some kind of medley.

I spotted an interesting salad – Paneer Tikka Caeser salad with lettuce and curd that also comprised of huge hunks of crusty
bread.  Its simple heartiness made for
perhaps the most enjoyable savory dish I had that afternoon.

My first starter was
the London Dragon Spring Rolls. It was zesty and spicy and surprisingly light,
despite being deep fried. Next was the Classic Dry Chilli Chicken. I really
liked the way the chicken played off; the fattiness of the chicken accentuated
with the tangy sauce.
I loved the Tom Yum soup. The lemongrass flavor went
perfectly well with the fresh vegetables.

The Londoner water chestnuts in
Chilli Plum Sauce were another dish that took me by surprise. I loved the
crunchiness from the outside that went perfectly well with the chili plum
sauce.

The mains included a clay pot
that consisted of rice with vegetables and chicken added in it. The meal is complete
in itself where a family of three can enjoy the chicken delicacy. We ended the meal with a fried
chocolate with ice cream and an interesting take on the great wall called ‘Londoner’s
Great wall of China’.
The desserts weren’t as impressing as the entire culinary
odyssey, but I would rather take home good memories of my food review through
starters and the mains. Visit this place for great food, ambiance and music on any day.
