Cascades @ The Grand New Delhi – A Heavenly Experience

The auspicious Navratri festival
is all about devotional tribute to the Nine avatars of Goddess while devouring
simple saatvik food. Even though home cooked meals prepared with utmost care
and precision is always preferred, luxury hotels like The Grand New Delhi always ensure
their guests consume food using pure ingredients in vessels that are taken extra care of.

My recent visit to the luxury
hotel took me by surprise as I experienced a fabulous array of dishes that were
delectable to eat and beautiful to present.

How it started

The Grand is simply brimming with
incredible dining options to please diners. And for guests looking for simple
food cooked during Navratri, the Cascades located at the Lower Lobby Level of the hotel is the preferred choice.

Against
the backdrop of an elegant, airy space and vivid colors, the flavors of buffet
dishes play the perfect harmony.

The Executive Chef focuses on preparing
the best Indian dishes, combined with fresh ingredients and seasonal produce. He
definitely has a knack for pairing these dishes well.

Cascades serves Indian
food for the modern generation with a unique mélange of simple ingredients and flavors
that showcase the authentic celebration of India.

Focusing broadly on a saatvik
fare with traditional dishes, the  flavored
cooking of the Navratri Thaali is complemented by its wonderful presentation.

The Experience

Traditional dishes in the thaali feature twists, though the menu stays true to its original flavors. I begin with
my all time favorite aaloo sabudaana ki tikki. Moist and tender, the tikkis are
the perfect way to start the meal. Khatta meethaa sitafal and arbi shobedaar
are both synonymous with heavenly bliss.

The pure ghee and cumin seeds have a
delicious lingering taste that accentuates the subtle flavors quite well. I
loved the kaju matar makhaana. It had the perfect gravy to go with samak ke chawal,
while the  dahe waale aaloo is a unique preparation
of potatoes cooked in a traditional manner.

The kuttu ki puri was surprisingly light and I devoured it with the vegetables.
The lauki ka halwa is a refreshing change to the usual take on regular navratri
desserts.

The Thaali experience was a
blissful odyssey where I experienced peace and satisfaction in each bite. On usual days
too, the chef and staff ensure precision and care is taken while cooking to give a holistic dining experience to guests.
