Bronies – A great place to unwind

So what carries a restaurant and what
brings you back to a place? Is it the bartender who mixes great cocktails or the
host who miraculously generates a seat as soon as you walk through the door? Is
it the location, the price or that gut feeling that you know you’ll have a good
time?

Bronies passed the test with
flying colors. Located in Defence Colony, the place has started
garnered attention already.
The fresco style seating in the outdoor fits the
perfect ambiance for a romantic candle lit dinner, while the dimly lit interiors
have a quirky ambiance suitable for party lovers.
An arrangement of potted
plants designed to look like foliage that is built around the gleaming open area
bagged seven stars immediately.
On first inspection, Bronies
seems to be distressingly familiar. The dining space indoors decorated with art
work and the repainted ceiling looks highly appealing.
The duo behind the
masterpiece, Sonia and Manu Mohinder, say “ Bronies is a place for people who
lead highly stressed lives and very rarely get time to unwind and relax.”
According to them Bronies is a refuge or escape from the regular hectic
lifestyle. Which in this case means you can get scrumptious food and liquor.
Sonia and Manu Mohindra are known
in Delhi food circles as serious scholars of re-inventing food havens, but at Bronies
they turn their attention to the intertwining influences of delicious recipes with
a dash of entertainment to unwind.
Bronies has efficient managers
and servers who run the show, marking this very much as a quirky restaurant
suitable for the young, tech-minded professionals who work hard throughout the
week.  These servers make you feel
welcomed from the start. On that evening, my fellow travelers and I sampled a
crafted menu that went very nicely.
Just like they give justice to
their other restaurants, the duo ensures diners are served warmly. The menu
consisted of an array of dishes, which included stone soups. I loved the Burnt Tomato and Tortilla Soup.
The Cool Russian in a Jar
salad and the Rocket Singh Chicken Tikka Salad
turned out to be peppery
and pleasingly tender that we all loved. The Hot Butter Fish with Curry Leaves, made with peppers, charred
leeks, and a crunchy sauce was sinful.  The
Brinjal Fries, a main
that masquerades as a starter, was served with Hot Bean Sauce,
Desserts are simple, satisfying, and almost
kidlike: The Baked Alaska, Apple Pie in a Jar With Cinnamon Ice Cream and the Chocolate
Mud Cake make for a happy end to a generally happy experience.
I loved the place and besides the warm
hospitality and service, the in-house DJ plays excellent music to make the experience
memorable. Theme nights like movie nights or retro nights are extremely
interesting. Visit the place for an absolutely fantastic experience!
