Alaya Spa and Salon – A Traditional Thai experience

Traditional Thai spas are very
rare in Delhi. Although I have experienced luxury spas in hotels, I still had
to discover standalone spas that were unconventional and exuded the warm
hospitality of a five star hotel.  Few
days back, I reviewed the Alaya Spa and Salon and my experience was phenomenal.

First Impressions

It is conveniently located in the
PVR Saket complex. Alaya Spalon has a unique ambience – it’s the kind of place
where they have absolutely nailed the mix between gritty and pretty.
Large glass windows invite you
into a place where artisans warmly welcome you into the secret heaven of
paradise where magic starts the moment you take a seat. The person behind it is Gyurme Tenzing, who hails from Sikkim.
Alaya Spa and Salon is the kind of place
that you come to after you’ve worked hard in office or the gym and are ready to
spruce yourself for a complete makeover.
Downstairs, is what looks like a
basement that has been created into a stylish glamour station where feet and
hands are pampered. One can simple sit back and relax in a haven away from the
light and noise of outside the busiest part of Saket.
While I opted for a Moroccan Hair
spa, my daughter opted for the pedicure and hair cut. The therapist carefully
filed, buffed and scraped off the gel off my daughter’s nails. When I say
carefully, I mean literally very carefully. As I observed his work, I was so
impressed with the care, eye for detail and concentration that the therapists
paid to the service.

Her pedicurist simply wasn’t
ready to move an inch until she was completely happy with the finished product.

Cuticles were removed and her nails were buffed. The moment her feet were soaked
in the water, her tiredness and stiffness melted away.

A little later, the pedicurist massaged the cleanser in a circular motion, followed by an exfoliation. After
the exfoliation, a gentle massage takes place where he perfectly massages every
part of the leg and ensures her feet are relaxed. She loved the reflexology
process.

My hair were succumbed to excessive hair fall and
damage due to extensive sun exposure. The hair stylist suggested me to try the
Moroccan hair spa for preventing hair fall and initiate hair repair.

After the consultation, I
proceeded to go for the Moroccan hair spa. I loved the fact that there was a
separate area for shampoo.

Then, I came back to the main area for the hair spa.
He starts off the hair with a few drops of the Moroccan oil in his hand.

The Moroccan oil offers
elasticity that lasts for a long time as compared to hair spa from any other
hair product. He massaged the oil in circular motion, ensuring every nerve in
the head is pressed and relaxed.

After twenty minutes, he places a warm towel
on my hair that helps in absorbing the cream into the roots.

The moisturizing properties and
the nourishing effects of the Moroccan oil make the hair feel light and
hydrated. My hair is washed and the effect is amazing. Meanwhile the stylist comes and
suggests trimming for my daughter’s hair for that extra bounce.
I was in awe as
he went about cutting layers of her hair. At first, it was a surprise, but the
final outcome was shaping pretty well. He set her hair with a blow–dry. The
style looked fabulous and she looked amazing. We moved towards the spa area to experience
the Signature Alaya massage.
The Spa Experience –
A flight of stairs take us to the
spa section which has wooden flooring and treatment rooms. A smiling spa attendant
welcomes us with folded hands and leads us to the spa rooms. Subtle lights and
paintings add volume to the decor of the spa room. The soft music adds a
magical touch to the ambiance.
I lay face down and was ready
for the spa session. The masseur took some oil in her hand and massaged it on
the legs.

Optimum pressure was applied on the heels that were in most painful
stages since the last few days. Thankfully, she was doing a fabulous job in
applying the exact pressure on them.

She later massaged the legs in
circular motion and worked up the magic in just few minutes. While her fingers
were the masters of her talent, her warm hospitable attitude made me
comfortable and at ease.
The entire massage took about 60
minutes where each part was given the perfect time and pressure. I was already
relaxed and at ease. With the soft music playing, I was transported to another
world.
She later massaged my head and ensured that the pressure was applied on
the temples, neck, shoulders hence relaxing the stiff zones. I was loving the
rhythmic movements and fell asleep soon.
I was woken up gently to take a steam
and shower. Few minutes later, I came out beaming and glowing. I met my daughter
in the spa reception who was deeply impressed with the spa session. We were
offered some herbal tea after the session and were feeling relaxed and
refreshed after the session.
We loved the spalon sessions at
Alaya and thanked the therapists for the entire experience. I have to agree that the
Alaya spalon offers world class luxury therapies to refresh the mind, body and
soul.
