Westin Gurgaon presents the ‘Art of Blending’ – delectable food paired with Johny Walker

The scorching heat of Delhi was
soon forgotten as I headed towards my favorite destination, Westin Hotel Gurgaon
for the “Art of Blending” & making of iconic Johnnie Walker
blends from around the world.

The luxury sit down dinner was arranged to
introduce us to some of the most palatable flavors of whiskey and pair them
with delectable food prepared by the Masterchef Deepak.

I arrived on time and was
introduced to the new Multi Property General Manager, Mr. Ashwini Nayar, who comes with an experience of a decade with Dhaka
hospitality industry.
The session that followed was an introduction about iconic Scottish whisky, Johny Walker as a brand.

Few minutes later, we were escorted inside the banquet hall to
carry on with the dinner. Several tables were beautifully laid with fine arrangement
of flowers in the center.

The 4 course meal curated by Chef Deepak Bhatia was
one of the finest dinner I have ever experienced.

The brand ambassador of Johny
Walker introduced herself and began talking about the different variants. We took our seats and were waiting in anticipation for the ‘art of blending’. I was elated to see the salad
being served.

The Frostier Summer Salad had delectable ingredients of wild  Mushroom, Frisee lettuce, roasted beets, aged
goat cheese and walnut reduction in it. It worked very well with Johnnie Walker
Black Label.

The next dish served was Quinoa
and Black Bean Crockpot, with Bell pepper reduction, cilantro and Avocado that was
paired well with Johnnie Walker Double Black.

On the other hand, the non
vegetarians enjoyed the Tea smoked Salmon with pea puree, carrot crisp, mustard
cress and caper butter.

The Rosemary and Star anise sorbet acted as a lovely interlude
before the main course.

I loved the main course dish – A
Hand rolled Gnocchi in Smoked Tomato and Basil Concasse & Olive Dust, and
for the non-vegetarians, there was the cumin crusted Lamb Rack with Asparagus,
charred onions, comfit tomatoes Jus and vanilla foam that was paired with an 18
year old  Johnnie Walker Platinum Label.
A classic combination of fine taste and flavor.

The classic surprise was the
dessert –  A Citrus infused Ghana chocolate wave (Raspberry Coulis) was served with
the Johnnie Walker Gold Label Reserve.
The citrus flavors evoked a certain magic in
the mouth as I swished the whiskey in my palette. I loved this delectable but
sweet combination.

The event came to an end, and I thanked the masterchef for organizing such a
brilliant combination to the age old classic whiskey, and accentuating its
taste and aroma.
