Shiv Sagar- Enticing food lovers with delectable Indian cuisines

Street foods of India like chaat,
bhalla paapri, sev puri, pao bhaji are extremely popular throughout the world. International
tourists flock around the capital to indulge in the most succulent street
foods. Enter Shiv Sagar, a food lover’s paradise.

The owner Varun Puri has mastered
the art of offering flavorsome food to Delhi without compromising on the
authentic taste from Mumbai. He exhibits the finest nuances of pleasing the Indian
palette with an extraordinary fare of street food. Shiv sagar is close to his
heart as he talks about its inception and the passion he has in opening the
restaurant few months back in the heart of Delhi – CP.
The restaurant that started in
1982 is one of the most famous restaurant chains in Mumbai. It has a single
motive to provide multi cuisine vegetarian food that serves everything from
Mexican, American, Italian, Japanese and Chinese.
The seating in Shiv Sagar is
huge, but still manages to host a large gathering on any day. The restaurant on
both the floors has neatly spaced tables and chairs that give room and privacy
to enjoy a nice meal. If you choose Shiv sagar for a meal with your closest
family members, you shall be indeed happy with your choice!
Shiv Sagar has a waiting area
with facilities like comfortable chairs and a fan that makes it easy for eager
diners to wait patiently for their turn. As you step inside the restaurant,
smartly dressed severs can be seen serving diners with a smile. The efficiency
and timing of the order is something that I was simply mesmerized about.
As we were ready to review the
restaurant, the owner Varun Puri was kind enough to join us and talk about Shiv
Sagar. While we bagan interacting, small samplers of different juices were
placed before us. We had choices like sweet lime, watermelon, pomegranate,
maaramaari and mixed. The maararamari was a brilliant combination of pineapple
and sweet lime mixed together with a dash of their traditional in-house massala.
The menu has a large variety of
dishes that left us in a fix. Varun suggested us to try the sev puri, a typical
Bombay style chaat. The paapris are crispy and tender at the same time. The
next thing we tried was the Shiv Sagar pav bhaji.
The buttery soft pav, with
the scrumptious bhajji had butter oozing out. Its tangy flavor transported us
back to Mumbai’s delectable street food. The typical Bombay snack vada pav is
spicy & deliciously hot. The chillies accompanied with the authentic Bombay
snack puts even the best vada paov in Delhi to shame!
The Bombay sandwich is the next
best thing that is unbeatable. Made with butter, mashed potatoes, onions,
chutney, tomatoes, cheese, the sandwich is served with sev (exported from
Mumbai) on top of it that tasted delicious.
If you love the typical Indian
pulao, try their tawa pulao that gives the essence of home cooked food. The hot
steaming pulao with vegetables entice the taste buds as you take the first
bite.
The sweet nothings were still
left. On recommendation, we ordered for a brownie with chocolate sauce and paan
flavored ice cream. The paan-flavored ice cream was a winner hands down with
the flavors of paan at every bite.
The dishes are enticing no matter
what you pick. With a promise of flavor and the authentic taste, each dish on
the menu lures you back to Shiv Sagar.
