Naad – A Luxury Wellness Retreat in Sonipat

In today’s chaotic lifestyle, the only one thing that is most imperative is relaxation and peace of mind. The mind when it is relaxed, performs best and empowers the body, whereas under stress it only releases toxins that hamper the growth of immunity cells.

I realized the essence of wellness when my health was deteriorating under demanding work pressure and endless deadlines. The sleep routine was disturbed and my body was filled with toxins. I learnt about Naad wellness while researching on the Internet and loved their concept. Immediately I booked for a three night package.
Naad Wellness – An Introduction

At Naad Wellness, you receive the best combination of wellness and luxury. Their space is designed to offer unique and personalized care. During your stay, specialists help heal and connect your mind and body through natural therapies and healthy nutrition.
Located barely an hour away from Delhi, the wellness retreat is located amidst lush greenery in Kundli.
My experience
I left from my residence in the morning and reached in less than two hours at the retreat. On arrival, I was greeted by the staff with a tikka on my forehead, arti and a rudraksh maala, a symbol of respect in India.
A glass of fresh watermelon juice spiked with fresh mint leaves extracted the tiredness out from my body and quenched my soul.
I looked round and was deeply impressed by the green hues spread across. There were potted plants spread in each corner. I was escorted to my room located on the first floor. The staff is extremely courteous and respectful. They ensure guests are well taken care of.

My luxury suite

I was given the luxury suite for my experiential. The key read “your key to a sound you”. The room opened up to a beautiful space that had natural light falling in. the green upholstery on the sofa set and the drapes only added to the wellness factor. The bed had soft white cotton spreads and soft pillows.

There was a desk and chair at one corner perfectly suitable for writers like me. I opened the curtains and walked towards the balcony. The view was breathtaking. The well manicured garden and adjoining swimming pool was a treat to my eyes.

I moved towards the washroom to freshen up. I noticed the bath products from Purearth near the bath tub. The spacious washroom had each essence of the luxe factor. Bath towels, a wide mirror and bath tub completed the details.

Few minutes later, my door bell rings and I open to find a smiling man with my kurta set. This was the highlight of the wellness retreat. Naad provides white kurta pyjama to guests to add to the healing  touch. Since white is the color of purity, it adds to the entire holistic experience. I changed into my kurta and moved towards the restaurant for a nice hot lunch.
Ahara – The Restaurant that serves Healing foods

A warm welcome by the chef and the restaurant staff add a smile on my face immediately. The restaurant has glass doors and wide windows that usher in natural light and also give a breathtaking view of the swaying trees and plants.

One can simply soak in the luxury of the spectacular view while dining. The culinary odyssey begins with a moong soup, followed by green salad, raw banana sauté, mix vegetables, toor daal and chapatti.
I have to admit I have never felt so satiated after a meal. The ingredients were like power doses that were fuelling up my lost energy. I felt rejuvenated and cherished after the meal.

I thanked the staff and was escorted towards my appointment with the Ayurveda doctor. The essence of Ayurveda consultation lies in the wrist also called “Naadi” that helps in assessing the overall health. A brief discussion with the doctor about my health unlocked the doors to wellness immediately. I learnt about the three doshas and how predominant they are for the human body. Any imbalance leads to several diseases and the best way to cure is through deep rooted Ayurveda procedure. After an assessment, the doctor had planned a list of therapies for me that would help in relaxation and help in healing.

I went to my room to rest for some time. Few minutes later, my door bell rings and a smiling attendant hands a bath robe to me with disposable undergarments. I loved their punctuality and looked forward to my therapy. She ushers me towards the corridor that was completely empty.

The retreat ensures the staff doesn’t disturb the guests while moving towards the therapy room. All the therapy rooms are named after the chakras. I enter the therapy room and was highly impressed with the detailing. The size of the room was perfect, while subtle light and soft hues on the wall adorn the room further. The hard bed was ready for my experience and I lied on it to experience my journey to tranquility. The first treatment was the aroma therapy.

Aroma Therapy –
The Aroma therapy helps in re-mineralizing, detoxification and rebalancing the body. It performs its therapeutic action by draining all the toxins from the body, while the goodness of the aroma oil lingers on the body for a long time.
The therapist begins with light pressure points throughout and applies oil all over the body to stabilize the treatment thus leaving the skin soft and supple. The aim of the therapy is to regain lost energy and help to revive the zeal with a fresh inner self. With all the positive energies I felt so light and healthy all throughout.

After the sensational therapy, I was ushered to Ahara for some light refreshments. A platter of cut fruits and fresh sweet lime juice were served. The refreshments acted as the perfect ending to the thereuptic massage.
I walked for some time on the acupressure track. This track is the highlight of the wellness center. The stones places on the track helped in giving pressure points on the soles thereby relieving pain and aches from the nerve cells.
Dinner was served sharp at 7.30 that consisted of Cream of Spinach and Almond, Lachha salad, Moong Tikkis, sauté Veg, Green Chutney, and lentils. After the satisfying dinner, I moved towards my abode to call it a day.
Day 2:
The next day I got a wake-up call from the reception at 6.30 AM. A yoga class was scheduled to begin the day with. The hour long yoga class was perfect to start the day with.
We practiced followed by pranayam. I have always loved yoga and strongly believed it to be the best way to keep the body, mind and soul healthy.
The yoga guru is well experienced in his field and ensures every movement is practiced gently and at ease.

Some fruits and juices were served post the yoga class. There was a Shirodhara therapy ready for me and I looked forward to it.

Shirodhara –

Shirodhara is a form of Ayurveda therapy that involves gently pouring warm oil over the forehead. The name comes from the Sanskrit words shiro (head) and dhara (flow). to unblock any blockages.

This allows the energy to flow properly and helps relieve headaches, migraine, insomnia and stress. Ayurveda massage aims to improve the circulation, prevents skin dryness and balance three doshas: vata (space and air), pitta (fire and water) and kapha (water and earth).
My Experience  –

While I lied face down on the wooden table, two therapists begin massaging the legs while applying optimum pressure. The therapists worked in perfect coordination. They were doing a fabulous job.

They massaged the legs in circular motion and worked up the magic in just few minutes. The entire massage took about 45 minutes where each part was given the perfect time and pressure. I was already relaxed and at ease.

With the soft music playing, I was transported to another world. They moved towards the Shirodhara  treatment that had a bronze pot hanging with a wooden panel, and softly poured the warm oil on my forehead.

The soothing Ayurveda oil flowed continuously for about 45 minutes back and forth over my forehead. My eyes were covered with a cloth and I sank into a deep relaxing mode.

My hair was oozing in oil. The constant stream of the warm oil over my forehead made the chatter in my head dissolve and I drifted away.  Minutes later, I dozed off. I was woken up with a gentle voice in my ear and gently ushered to a salt cave where another therapy was waiting for me.

Salt cave therapy –

The salt therapy used with Himalayan salt helps to relieve respiratory illnesses and improve skin conditions while strengthening the immune systems. The man made salt cave has tremendous benefits. I was made to sit for ten minutes to soak in the benefits of the rock salt all around the place. Sitting inside itself is bliss as it’s immensely peaceful and rejuvenating. Few minutes later I could feel the skin breathing.

After a warm shower, I moved towards the restaurant for some breakfast. This time the chef had prepared a delicious Moong Chila served with coconut chutney. I relished the soft chila with some ginger cinnamon tea. Each time I devour the meal prepared by the chef, I get closer to sanity and wellness because as they say a healthy mind resides in a healthy body.

A small tour of Naad was organized by the team after breakfast. Vandana who takes care of Sales took me around to make me acquainted with the features of the sprawling campus.

A flight of stairs takes me to the categories of rooms that are simple yet elegant and have the green theme throughout. The Naad suite has a large balcony and a garden to walk around. There is also a plunge pool along with my room where I stayed.

A lounge with books on health and wellness was displayed. The upper floor had a small golf area which is lit up at night. There are also some recreational activities like a large pool, tennis and badminton courts, a fully functional gym and a yoga room.  Each section is built aesthetically and speaks in volume about the ardent effort and dedication in shaping the wellness center.
I had some time in my hand so I decided to indulge in the plunge pool. The staff had decorated it with rose petals and it looked beautiful. The mini pool session was invigorating and revved up my appetite. Lunch was served sharp at 1 pm.
A thali decorated with cubes Salad, Pumpkin Soup, Veg Santula, Muga Bhaja, rotis, Moong Dal was served. I wasn’t acquainted to these dishes before but the server told me it was a cuisine famous in West Bengal. I was floored by the simplicity of the dishes and never knew how simple ingredients could make a dish healthy and delicious at the same time.

My craving for sweet was satiated with some lauki halwa that was completely devoid of sugar and made with jaggery. I never knew how jaggery could sweeten a dish and still would be so light and healthy.

My appointment with the dentist was slotted at 2.30 pm. I was ushered to the dentist who came with a rich experience in dental care. After a careful analysis of my teeth, the dentist gave a small cleaning session that lasted for few minutes and didn’t pain at all.

I was very intrigued for my next experience – The Turkish hamam. I had heard a lot about it and was looking forward to my experience.

The Turkish hamam

A Turkish hamam is based on the same principles as the steam bath but the focus is on water rather than steam. As I entered the hamam, it was really dark inside with candles burning at each corner.

The room looks beautiful as it is illuminated with the flickering candles. The tiled room had a marble slab on which I was made to lie on. My therapist takes some scrub in her hands and begins the scrubbing process for exfoliation.

She ensures gentle yet firm strokes are applied so that the exfoliation happens well. She walks me to the steam chamber as it was dark and I could barely see anything in front of me. It was a bit daunting but I became accustomed to the darkness. After the steam, I was ushered towards the Jacuzzi. That was the best part as it was relaxing and fun at the same time. The warm water in the Jacuzzi helped me to cleanse off. After the shower, I came out happy, replenished and glowing.

I felt extremely hungry after the therapy and was happy with my platter of cut fruits. Minutes later, I went for some reflexology therapy and loved the stroked and pressure points. The therapists here are skilled and very hospitable all the time.
The second day came to an end after a light meal of green salad, beetroot Tikkis, boiled vegetables, lentils and Chapati. The beetroot tikkis were the star of the meal. They were shallow fried in desi ghee and tasted delicious.
I had an enormous dinner and wanted to take a stroll around the property before sleeping. It had rained few minutes ago and the soft gentle breeze felt amazing. The small walk around the garden on the first floor was very refreshing. There was silence everywhere. I had a very peaceful sleep that night and looked forward to the following day

Day 3:

The next day, I woke up to the sound of the birds. There was a light drizzle that seemed to have enlivened the green hues everywhere. I stood in my balcony and admired the fantastic landscaping while the gentle breeze soothed my senses.

After freshening up, I move towards the yoga class. This time it was different but very effective. After the post yoga refreshments, I moved towards my shirodhara therapy. It is very interesting that each time the therapy happens, you are provided with a new set of gown and undergarments. This reflected the hygiene, cleanliness and care towards guests.

The one hour long shirodhara treatment was refreshing but I had oodles of oil in my hair. After steam and shower, I got ready for my breakfast treat at Ahara. This time, it was Poha served with curd, green chutney and a cup of hot ginger cinnamon tea. I loved the softness of the poha that was mixed well with vegetables and herbs.
I had some time in my hands so I went to take a dip in the pool. The weather was perfect for a swim. It was neither too cold nor two warm. Luckily the wellness center ensures the water temperature is perfectly suited for the guests.
My swim lasted for an hour and I felt great after the exercise. Later I moved towards the gym where they have all the latest equipments for overall body strengthening and toning. The gym instructor has a good experience who  comes with an extensive background in thereuptic massages too.

His guidance and professionalism impressed me. I am not a gym person, but his guidance only helped me to practice for strengthening the body and convert fat into muscles. The gym session lasted for 20 minutes and increased my appetite.

I was glad about that as the chef had prepared a Panchkarma Thali with rice, rice roti, low fat curd, dalma, bhindi sauté with coconut, palak bhaja, tomato dip, Sprouts and vegetables curry.

I loved the palak (spinach). It had no extra spices and tasted authentic.  The sweet intonation was the Ragi Halwa made with clarified butter and jaggery.

I loved the presentation and the taste. Each dish was well prepared and had a very distinctive aroma. Surprisingly the thaali was light. I also loved the ragi halwa.
After my meal, I preferred to rest for some time. A potli massage also called the Choorna sweda massage was slotted for my next therapy.

Choorna sweda

The Potli Massage is a massage that can whisk away your aches and pain in a matter of 30 minutes. It is a combination of hot compression “Ayurveda Herbal Compression” (called potli) followed by a luxurious body massage.
My therapist made my lie on the bed face down, and started the massage. She started with the back Massage: just what it needed in removing knots and tension from my shoulders yet still being relaxing.
Later, she started using the potlis. The therapist started by working up on the tensed muscles with hot potli. I could feel each muscle relaxed and at ease after the therapy. The relaxation further accentuated after the steam and shower that completely took away the tiredness and rejuvenated me.
Next in line was the Purearth facial. The relaxing odyssey begins with cleansing using the Purearth product that is gently rubbed in circular motion. As the cleansing cream works the magic with its intense aroma, the massage takes out dead cells with its healing qualities.
I believe that as long as the skin is properly softened up beforehand to avoid red marks, scrubbing is the most effective way to remove clogged pores.

The masseur softly scrubbed my face for ten minutes with Purearth scrub and later removed it with a warm cloth. She massaged my under eye area to relax the nerve muscles that helped me to doze off.
The facial concluded with a mask that was brushed on my face and neck while my eyes were covered with cotton balls. After 15 minutes, the pack was removed with a hot towel followed by a light moisturizer. This Purearth facial is tailored purely to the needs and concerns of skin type and indulges one’s visage with numerous lavishes of cleansers, exfoliates, masques and deep moisturizers that focus intensely on hydration, purification or soothing.
My dinner that followed later that evening was a Lacha salad, arbi Tikki, Green Chutney, Spinach Roti and lentils. The arbi tikki was an interesting take on  the vegetable. The ended on a happy note and I slept like a baby. This was my last night at the center, and I was saddened with the thought of leaving the place that had served me with love and care, took care of nutritious needs and enriched me with amazing therapies.

Day 4:

I had to leave for Delhi for some urgent work and so had to skip my yoga session. The thereuptic massage was planned for me and I think this was the best therapy I experienced. The masseuse welcomed me with folded hands.

While I lied down on the massage bed, she started the massage using aroma oil with her finger tips. The gentle strokes started from the feet and moved towards the legs. As each point of the nerve was gently rubbed with the aroma oil, the suppression was gradually getting released. I loved the therapy and thanked the masseur for the wonderful service.

I moved towards Ahara, where my breakfast awaited me. This time it was a delicious Rawa Dosa with some Coconut Chutney. I loved the taste and the health factor.
The chef had enticed my senses to another level, and I couldn’t help but asking him the recipes and ingredients for the dishes.

It was hard to bit adieu to the team as they had become a family for me now. The undivided attention and warm hospitality was difficult to forget. A potted plant was given to me as a giveaway gift which I simply loved.

I would recommend this place for its exquisite hospitality, nutritious food and wellness therapies to indulge. It’s mandatory to sign in for at least three nights package for a body transformation, but they also have packages for a week and a month.
