Kofuku – A Japanese Delight

Japanese food can be a delight to
the eye, the palate and the stomach. If you head to Kofuku in Ansal Plaza, you
can enjoy their fabulous array of food items handpicked from Japan. The rich
flavor and aroma tend to take you on an exciting odyssey that is both
pleasurable and memorable.

The entrance is as eye pleasing
as the cuisine. The warm and cheerful staff with folded hands makes you feel
more comfortable and homely. Eagerly we walked towards our table that was
pre-booked for us. I was very impressed with the seating style of the cozy
cabin where we were seated.

The authentic style of seating and dining elevates
the pleasure of dining and is much more comfortable than the usual chairs.
Kofuku carries with it a strong legacy of authentic flavors that have been
beautifully inter-mingled to please the taste buds.

The traditional elements like
chopsticks and tableware whisk you to the magical land.  The tasting menu comprised some handpicked
delicacies of Kofuku.
We were offered three different drinks
– Matcha shake, Ume blossom and the Wasabi ginger. Highly recommended is their Wasabi
Ginger.
Sushis and Sashimis –

We began with Tofu salad and
Horenso salad. The salads are delectable and should not be missed. I loved the
flavor and presentation. The Creamy shrimp tempura was a
surprise element to me since I never tasted crab in my life. The dish looked
beautiful and sinful to devour. The shrimps are respectable, with thin skins
and nicely browned exteriors.
The Yaki Tori was the third dish
that I admired. I loved this sushis and I think Kofuku has the finest sushi I
have ever tasted.

It comprised of the ‘Oh my God sushi’ , a Blue fin tuna with caviar.
The Tuna is lightly blanched which gives it a bright red color and is served
with Caviar.

Next was the Super crunchy roll
Veg sushi. If I could only eat one thing for the rest of my life, this dish
would be it!

Loaded with the most delicious, basic ingredients, it comes out
bursting with flavor. The Cheung fun Chicken is an unusual take on dressing
which accentuated the chicken roll even further leaving my taste buds rejoiced!

The chicken is steamed with sake and salt, is then marinated with their sauce.
This dish is the chef’s fine conjugation between the traditional Japanese style
dish and Westernized Japanese food. It is served with fresh wasabi.
Mains –

We were served the Balinese curry
and Chicken Teriyaki in the main course. The chicken is juicy and flavorful
without being greasy.
Dessert –
We sealed the meal with sweet
nothings. We tried their signature Mochi Ice cream and Green Tea ice cream – they
are both sinful to the core. I loved my experience and would suggest my readers
to relish the authentic flavors of Japan at Kofuku.
