‘Junk food’ gets healthy with Gyms Kook, Punjabi Bagh

It is usually said to lose weight, you should avoid eating from outside. This usually comes as a challenge for people who love socializing or keep their lunch meeting outdoors. Enter Gyms Kook, a newly opened health restaurant that has become the solution for foodies who are weight conscious.

Set up in the posh area of Punjabi Bagh, Gyms
Kook has acquired a prominent space in Delhi’s upmarket food haven.
The multi-cuisine restaurant opened
its doors to people who love fitness as much as they love their food. With
health becoming the new ‘in’ thing, more and people are joining in to get rid
of body fat and feel light. Now they can eat with their heart’s content at this
gastronomical paradise without worrying about pounds.
The owners, Ekjot Singh and Rahul Tandon, both conscious young men are behind this new brand, who have always wanted to target the fitness freaks with delectable and healthy food. Their venture finally eventualized with Gyms Kook.
Gyms Kook has a very interesting
entrance. As I walked in, I first thought to have entered a gym with equipment
lying on the floor. Weight lifting equipment, dart board and a punching bag add
up to the ambiance of the restaurant, while the cycle placed on the ceiling sums
up to the wow factor.
The graffiti on the wall has
interesting quotes on fitness that are highlighted with bright lights from the
ceiling. A counter of protein based health drinks gives the health enthusiasts
ample choices to enjoy light conversation with friends. The comfortable seating in bright
hues adds vibrancy to the place. Our attendant arrives instantly and hands the menu
to me. I am taken by surprise to see the exhaustive variety of breakfast,
lunch, dinner, healthy drinks and protein shakes spread in different
categories.
The menu is divided into
different categories based on requirements like weight loss and protein. The interesting
categories included Detox juices, super detox shots, nutritious nature, protein
hunters, six food for six pack, healthizza(whole weat pizza). A special section
in the menu has space for regular gym lovers comprising of protein
shakes/supplements/boiled food, while the calorie conscious people can enjoy
the low fat and protein rich food with ingredients that were vocal with health
and taste.
I was impressed with the variety
of dishes and equally pleased with the affordable price of each dish. What
impressed me more was the nutritional information that was mentioned in the
menu to help diners in selecting the meal as per their body requirements. The
restaurant manager, a lean young man with a magnetic smile comes up to offer
assistance.
He suggests we start with some
healthy light bites with a Cous Cous
salad. The Cous Cous is brought to
life with spring onions, cucumber, olives and chick peas that are spruced with
lemon & olive oil dressing . I have never enjoyed a cous cous salad as I
did at Gyms kook.
The freshness shouts aloud with dressings that were meant to
go along with it. The Cobb salad,
brought along with it was made with chopped chicken breast, boiled eggs,
avacado, chicken salami, tomatoes, ice berg, lettuce, broccoli in a light
balsamic dressing;  again another twist
to the usual boring salads. This one is a must try for chicken lovers.
We relished the salads with
drinks like the Kiwi mint Collin,
which was a perfect amalgamation of fresh kiwis, mint leaves and soda. The Minty mojito, the regular mojito was spruced
with fresh mint leaves , lemon chunks ,brown sugar , soda while the Cafir Lime Cranberry Punch, made with fresh
cafir leaves and cranberry juice was the one totally different.
The Kiwi Mint Collin won the race hands
down with the freshness and low sugar quotient. If you love smoothies, you
should not miss the All Berry Bang.
Made with frozen strawberry, blueberry, blackberry and raspberry, the yogurt
based smoothie is a health drink that is delicious yet low in calories.
We wanted to gradually savor the
food, but the exciting varities invited us with their tempting ingredients. We
ordered for a   Village Harvest Pizza and Chicken
Pizza.
Both the pizzas are made with whole wheat thin crust.
The former
topped with mixed seasonal vegetables including mushrooms, capsicum , 3 bell
peppers , tomato , onion ,corns is sinful with each bite, while the latter, topped
with shredded chicken breast , corns , 3 bell peppers , mushrooms has finely
cut chicken pieces that melt in your mouth.
The main course included a Lime Chicken Breast with brown rice that had soft pieces of
chicken served with brown gravy; absolutely scrumptious.  We loved the platters that included the Vegetable Ragout High Fiber Vegetables. The mushrooms, zucchini, 3 bell peppers, carrot,
capsicum tend to keep up to their original flavors that are seasoned well with
barbeque sauce. Served with brown rice, the dish is a complete meal.

We tried our hands at the dart
board to pave way for the desserts. The best
choices were the Dark Chocolate Cake
and the Chocolate Mousse. Made with
sugar free, both had the taste factor riding high while keeping the calories at
bay.
