Diggin – Not just a cafe’ , but a lot more

If you fancy a meal in a
Goan setting, then head for a visual treat at Diggin. The newly opened café
gives you memories to cherish for a lifetime. Located opposite Gargi College, Diggin
in the Anand Lok Shopping Center is usually seen buzzing with students.

As you approach the
café, the British vintage décor with wooden benches and hammock in the
courtyard mesmerizes you where you are transcended to a quaint Goan village.

Divided between two main
spaces, the ground floor & the first floor, each space is characterized with
quirky British memorabilia. Diggin sets the tone for a casual café where time
can be spent well over conversations. The sit out on the top floor terrace
offers an outdoor yet private space for cozy meals.

The café is done up with
love and each corner is decorated well. The ground floor of the café is well
spaced with ample seating area to relish the meal. Airplanes hanging from the
ceiling, a collection of books on a large wooden book rack, bright cushions
thrown together for a comfortable and relaxed experience are things that please
your senses.

The first floor has a beautiful
tangerine tree wall art that looks beautiful. Small pots with fresh seasonal
flowers adorn the café that gives a whiff of fresh air and a touch of greenery.
While the first floor has a live kitchen with chefs preparing the delicious
dishes, the ground floor has a counter with smiling staff waiting to place your
order. The walls have a rustic white finish that looks similar to the walls of
a village in Greece while the French windows overlook the verdant surroundings.

The café is seen
bustling on all days, so people looking for a break from their regular office
work can find this place exciting enough. The dishes outnumber your mind’s
calculations and the smiling efficient staff ensures that you are served on
time.

The menu offers a
variety of dishes ranging from crispy thin crust wood oven pizzas to succulent
burgers, sandwiches, especially constructed pastas. The in-house bakery has
freshly made breads, cakes, muffins and cookies. The aromas from the kitchen
works up an appetite for a hearty & delicious meal.

Start from the soups at
Diggin. You can go for their broccoli soup and minestrone soup that shout out
aloud with their freshness and pungent flavor. The broccoli soup is flavorful with
fresh tomatoes that taste perfect for a chilly winter season. The broccoli can
go well with the kids while the minestrone goes well for people with a spicy palette.

We tried the Crispy
Zucchini fries. The crispiness of the zucchinis served in a cone shaped basket is
a hot delight that enticed our taste buds. The Diggin Special salad was the
healthy option. The generous amount of beetroot, green apples, lettuce, mint chili
vinaigrette and feta cheese made this salad a winner.

The bruchettes at Diggin
are very well done. Both the chicken and veg must be tried.
Diggin is also famous
for its smoothies. Try the Oreo shake and the Belgian Chocolate shake. Finely crushed
with ice, the ice creams are well beaten to make a perfect smoothie.

We chose the Rosemary
Grilled Chicken as one of the main course dishes. Soft and tangy, the chicken
was accompanied with olives and jalapenos fine tuned quite well with the chicken.
The other was the Pan Smeared Fish, accompanied by veggies and mashed potatoes.
This dish is perfect for fish lovers.

The pizzas at Diggin
must definitely be tried. The chicken and jalapeno and the mushroom and feta
cheese pizzas were made in woodfired oven that was extraordinarily light. The
crusts were not droopy nor were the toppings extra crispy.

We ended our meal on a
sweet note with Chocolate Fondue, a Tiramisu and a Coffee Cream Brule’. The Tiramisu
with an exact portion of rum heightened the sweet note while the Coffee Cream
Brule’s sinful taste enticed our taste buds.
