Chaayos – Experiments with Chai

It’s a warm afternoon in Delhi
and I wanted to sit in a comfortable lounge with a cup of tea and something to
nibble. I found a brilliant tea lounge called Chayyos. Located in the City
Centre Dwarka Mall in Sector 12, this branch of the famous tea company opened
their doors to the public a few days back –  how fabulous!

I have always preferred tea over
coffee. However, I am not one of those who start their mornings with a cup of
tea. But one cup of masala tea usually peps me up any time of the day.
So I walked
in the mall and moved towards the far end, where a team of smiling staff
welcomed me with folded hands and ushered me to a seat.
The modern, exciting,
and colourful store has a vast range of premium teas and decorative items. Bright
colored chairs evoke a light and casual setting that suggests the perfect
gambit for conversations over tea.
The Manager of the café walked me
through the concept of offering teas to people according to their preference and
taste. So each tea is made with a unique way that matches upto the taste of the
guest.
Now, I’m often skeptical of teas
that claim to taste like something – especially when it’s something indulgent
like chocolate and hazelnut! So I went for the usual Kulladh chai.
The perfect mélange
of Indian spices like cardamoms, cinnamon, ginger, tulsi and saffron makes you fall in love with the simple flavor of
chai. At the first sip, this tea won over my taste buds.
I was suggested to try their
Thepla Tacos – Paneer. The stuffing
is fresh, and points have to be given for building the Taco shell and nestling
the stuffing into it. The symphony sets well with their indigenous dips. It’s a
picturesque sight! Next I tried the mom’s poha. It is a different twist from
the usual poha that I make at home and pulls off as a hearty breakfast or
brunch diet.
For desserts, the Fruit Factory
cake played a piquant melody with assorted nuts that are definitely a
refreshing seductive treat. If you like experimenting with chai, you must try
different flavors of tea like Aam Panna, pahadi, honey ginger lemon.
