Barrels – Conjugation of Art and Food

BARRELS, a new concept in dining
amidst graffiti done walls is the latest fad that has hit the lounge zone. This
place promises a fantastic culinary experience that promises a breathtaking experience
for people looking for a holistic experience.

With a splash of Graffiti,
Sculptures, and Music depicting a new world order in its own uncharacteristic
way, Barrels is one of the rarest pubs of the capital where women feel
empowered and men mechanize from the mundane cycle of life. It promises to be
the place for socially awakened and a joint to unwind and feel liberated. An
epicenter for artists, musicians, authors, comedians, and the free willed homo
sapiens, Barrels would not necessarily be the pub nearest to your
home, but could be your favorite pub in town.
Located at one of the most
popular hang-out destinations of the capital, the PVR Priya Complex, Vasant
Vihar, Barrels positions itself as Indias first Thematic’ pub.

The façade of a neighborhood pub is usually
simple but Barrels takes pride in the intricacies of life, to re-
write the unwritten rules and re learn the unlearned lessons. The place is a
one-stop overhaul for the chained mind to break free in the mélange of colors,
music, art, and lighting, ergonomically designed to de strain the mind and
soul. The ambiance at Barrels is an amalgam of
graffiti with 2-D Sculptures. Though the restaurant elicits a classy, very
English vibe, it also serves as a family-friendly place thats open to all people who come through its
doors.

The cheerful visuals along with
heady aromas weigh up an appetite making way for a wholesome gastronomic
experience. Its menu is innovatively designed by Chefs Shakil , Amit and
Sandeep. The USP of the enviable team spirit of this trio in the kitchen is
that they all belong to the same foothills of Himalayas. The menu is a mélange of a selection of pan-ethnic
dishes influenced by Asian, African, American and European cooking traditions.

From Keema Masala Pasta to Vietnamese Chicken Skewers; from Steaked Fillet of
Fish Sizzler to Murg Salli Chaat; from Kebabs in Egg Blanket to Stuffed Parathas; from Yakitori Chicken to  Crème Veg and mushroom penne salad; and from Bunny Chao to Floating
Fish, Barrels has a range of delicacies that will surely ensure a
revisit. Besides these, it also has an impressive range of desserts for the
sweet toothed in the form of Baked cheese cake, Classic mud cake, Donuts and
Tiramisu. Even their creamy smoothies & thick shakes have the potency to
hypnotize you into a guilty submission every time you are in the radius.

But what gives a challenge to its
impressive food menu and a run for its money is one of the most vivid and
innovative Drinks Menu in town. Besides having an exotic range of beers,
whiskeys, wines, and cocktails, what stands out are the Beer Cocktails and the
Directors Cut (Barrels Owner(s)
original recipes). While the former rolls heads with names like Leighs Tears, Lay Me Down and Do Me,
and Uboot; the latter boasts of original ones like Answer, Cashews NutGawd Save Me, Akki Mashed Up, D’ASH
and Bar On Fire.

Besides handing over free beer
pints for various promotions on Birthdays, Puzzle Games and Guzzling
competitions, Barrels celebrates Movies and Sitcoms and therefore has
an instant connect with the youth. With regular movie viewing(s) like that of
Sholay, Godfather, Jaane Bhi do Yaaron, Andaaz Apna Apna and Golmaal clubbed
with sitcoms like Big Bang Theory, Criminal Minds and Coke Studio, Barrels aspires
to bring about a change in the entertainment biz of the hospitality sector.

Two of the youngest creative
mind(s) behind Barrels are Akshay Ohri & Priyanka Sharma. Akshays love for hospitality began when
he travelled the world and sensed a difference in hospitality and ambience as
the borders transcended. In his view, Entertaining people and making people happy while they dine out is
true hospitality. Each guests
meal is prepared to order from scratch, and we take pride in what we serve and
how it is presented.” Akshay
spends most of his time researching newer ways to improve customer experience.
Priyanka is the operational head,
where she not only manages the staff, formalize menus, organize functions and
bookings but also ensure that everything is prepped and ready to work
smoothly. Barrels could
be easily termed as an English-accented breakfast or a neighborhood world
cuisine eatery or a dessert parlor famous for its elegant hand-made desserts.
The idea is to create visible standards in all the realms of hospitality”, says Priyanka.
