Irezumi – Tapas with a difference!

Cannought place in Lutyen’s Delhi has many
choices to enjoy a lavish meal. But if you are looking for something
extraordinary, head towards Irezumi.
Referred to as an insertion of ink into the
skin leaving a permanent mark, Irezumi talks on the similar lines, leaving a
permanent mark in the diner’s memories.

Situated right across Le Meridian, CP, this new kid
in the block has everything taken care of. While you walk inside the
restaurant, bright rep lips drawn right above the bar area oozes sensuality. A spacious
setting indeed, Irezumi promises a fun filled gastronomically fare at any time
of the day.
Well lit up Interiors
There are bright lights and comfortable chairs
and then there is the much talked about bar. The bar tenders display their talent
of creating the most exotic cocktails and mocktails. I relished the Bailey’s
coffee liqueur while my daughter loved the magharetta with strawberry flavor.

The menu, an ode to the finest culinary odyssey
forms an epiphany that is documented to fusion food, a classic culmination of
European, Oriental and Indian cuisines to delight your taste buds.
Mystified that we were about the dishes to
order, we left ourselves in the hands of the master chef himself. With an
exhaustive experience of 12 years in culinary expertise, the executive chef
chose the perfectly tailored menu for us and we sure were happy.
And then they arrive! The first thing on our
table was the Laksa soup and chicken Shabu Shabu. The former made with coconut
milk, lemon grass, tamarind and lime leaves was the sure shot winner with a
spicy undertone.

The latter, Shobu Shobu was perfect for a
family for four. With ingredients on the table to choose from, the otherwise
bland soup of vegetable stock becomes interesting with selective veggies and
sauces and voila, a masterpiece is created!

Chong Ping Spicy chicken changes your perception
of the otherwise basic chilli chicken. Pepped up with red chillies, sesame
seeds and lime leaves, the chilli chicken is accented with Thai flavour that
elevated the dish to an epiphany.

The next that followed was shrimp wrapped in
angel hair noodle. Parallel to its name, the shrimps served on a stick were
smothered with crispy noodles that were crunchy and tasted perfect. They matched
up to the deep fried and crispy noodles that stuck on them for dear life!

Filled to the brim with the starters, we wanted
to miss the mains. But the chef was extra hospitable with the main course. He served
us the Teppan Fish Lemon Butter Soya. Saucy and creamy, the sole fish glistened
and gleamed in butter while its gravy thick and pungent accompanied the
vegetable quite well.

The chicken Thai red curry was a major hit in
the main course that truly took our dining experience to the

next level. The Japanese
dish accentuated with Thai notes of lemongrass, tamarind, galangal, bay leaves accompanied
with sticky rice glides down our gullet.

Next, the chef served us Asian vegetables soba
noodles that left a tangy taste in the mouth with its crispy vegetables
tantalizing our taste buds.

The odyssey came to an end with chocolate
brownie and lemon tart with ice cream that sealed the deal on a sweet note.
