Lodi – World class outdoor dining

As the Delhi heat simmers down,
the atmospheric air calls for an outdoor dining. That is where Lodi Garden’s
open air restaurant tickles my thoughts and I head towards the multi-faceted
place for a quite dinner with family.
The swanky and plush restaurant
has been serving world class meals in a congenial environment since 12 years.
The indoors and outdoors

The entrance of the Lodi restaurant
elevates you on a higher pedestal with its romantic aura created by the soft sensuous
music playing in the background. Earthen pots filled with marigold flowers at
the entrance look enchanting and we start walking on the pebbled floor, that
transcends us to a tropical Island, where rose scented air and soft lights hung
on trees brighten everything.

While there are options of indoor
dining too, Lodi’s affluent dining is an experiential one with its outdoors.
The place is usually buzzing with families and corporate who enjoy a hearty
dinner on weekdays and weekends. The location is affluent as it is situated
right next to the Lodi gardens and in the vicinity of the prestigious Alliance Françoise.

The hospitality of the Lodi
Restaurant is brilliant as there are courteous waiters taking care of guests on
time. The hospitable manager introduces us to the waiter who guides us through
the menu and gives helpful suggestions to start our gastronomical journey.
He suggested a chicken, lime and
barley broth with a dash of fresh celery.  The names of the dishes are the descriptions
in themselves, so getting acquainted with the food come naturally. The broth
arrives steaming hot, with the chicken pieces, tender and juicy blended well in
the soup. The other soup was a wild mushroom puree, that was the perfect blend of
mushrooms and pepper. The soups were a tantalizing start and kick started our
appetite.

To initiate our review, we began
with fresh salads. A raw papaya, beans, shallots and coriander leaf salad with
cracked peanuts and burnt chili should be the choice for people who go light on
their meals. The juice of the raw papaya is perfected well with the herbs. The
other one, a chicken salad, was finished to the last bite as it’s ingredient
with sesame dressings was quite pleasing to the palate.

Later, we ordered for two
appetizers. One was Jalapeno chilies; a tangy soy, honey and cilantro with goat
cheese filled in them. The jalapenos, deep fried, spicy and tangy went well
with the filling of goat cheese that was oozing out. Each bite was delicious!
Whisky Sour

The other appetizer was a chicken
skewer with sweet chili sauce that had honey covered overall. The chicken was
cooked well, while the honey that was glistening was apt to balance the sour
flavor.

Watermelon drink

It was time to order some drinks
to go with the appetizers. We ordered sweet lime, honey and lemon juice. The
chunks of sweet lime dancing in the water was accentuated with the sweetness of
the honey in it. The next was a watermelon, basil, lemon chunks and lime juice;
sweet at its best.

The cocktail we ordered was a
sharp and sexy combination of Jack Danielle, with mint and dark rum taking the
name of Bourbon Mint Juleps. While the other one, whisky sour, was an exotic
combination of Jim Bean whiskey, sugar, cherry and lemon.
The main course – Chicken

The drinks are devoured and we
move towards the main course. The finale comprised of three platters. We were
served a variety of fish, chicken and vegetables. The pan smeared fresh fillet
of river sole with caper berry, spring tagliatelle and potatoes was absolutely
scrumptious while the spinach and cheddar chicken breast in white wine in
mushroom sauce with rice was a delight. The vegetable dish, made with grilled
peppers, mushrooms, tomatoes, eggplant, cottage cheese with classic pesto had
the perfect taste of each vegetable.

Almond bread pudding

The epiphany came to an end with
sweet nothings! A delicious almond bread pudding with warm truffle sauce served
with homemade fig ice cream was a chilled delight, while the Chocó truffle
pastry was a sinful indulgence served warm.

Hospitable ambiance and delicious
food are synonymous with Lodi restaurant. An unforgettable experience overall!
