Nueva – A Latin American Culinary Experience

Nothing can make a weekday more

interesting than delectable food served with warmth and hospitality. I was
invited by the team of Nueva – A Latin American Culinary Restaurant for a review. I am
elated as I share my phenomenal experience at the luxury restaurant.

This place is for people who love
to taste experience and even understand the fine essence of Latin American food.
The place is conceptualized by the ardent maverick Vikrant Batra and the
eminent cricketer Virat Kohli. Nueva is born to give the essence of enjoying
high quality food.
Located in the posh and
refurbished Sangam Courtyard, Nueva lays bare its lofty ambitions. The entrance
welcomes the diners a luxury essence that oozes sensuality and visual appeal.
The space exudes warmth with its minimalist elements and soft light. Roomy furniture
sport bright slipcovers, while delicate lights hanging from the ceiling recalls
the classic appeal.
The floors display an artistic
finesse while the high ceilings take you away to paradise.
There is an ample space for dining for guests. We were ushered to the first floor that opens up to a cozy dining area that is spacious
enough for a big get together. The open kitchen throws open a visual treat for
diners as they can watch the performance of maestros in disguise who craft
exotic dishes. Eating here is as much a theatrical delight as a culinary
experience.
We take our seat and are
accompanied by the in house PR Manager, Ms. Pallavi. The menu includes a
variety of items, which included seafood, meats, vegetables, soups and rice dishes.  Latin Americans love
the simplicity of their staple food and Nueva has surely succeeded in keeping
up with the spirit of the cuisine.

The chef Michael Swamy had a pleasant
surprise to whisk us on a delectable odyssey and we were eager to indulge.

Thus began the review with some
Causa – Mash potatoes with prawn/avocado. I was very impressed by the
consistency of the dish. It had a very good texture, the respective prawn and
avocado precisely cooked. We relished the dish with Pure Verde – subtle flavors
of kiwi infused with lime and Que Melon – a chilled drink made with fresh
watermelon. The drinks accentuated our dining experience.
The next dish was the Chicken
Piri Piri. The chicken tossed in Portugese spice blend had a lively spice level
but not overwhelming: this was a really top-notch dish.
The Fish E &
Mushroom Cevich is by far the best I have ever tried. I loved the consistency
of sole fish that played well with herbs. Also lovely was the Empanada –
Flaky White Pastry with mixture of chicken/vegetables.  The crust was crispy and the fillings were
terrific, tender and with a hint of spice.
We were served a hearty Peruvian
soup – Parihuela that had a profuse use of herbs delighting the taste buds. The
Cottage Cheese salad comprised of a timbale of cottage cheese mousse with chili
lime salad. The salad is definitely a good spin on the conventional rubbed
salads, complete with vegetables and cottage cheese that was hard to identify
but succulent to eat. The salad was gone in a few seconds and satiated us to a
level impossible to express.
Before the antispati, we took a few
sips of the palate cleanser. The strawberry juice has the perfect fresh fruity
sensation that gives a nice balance with sweet sensations and a long pleasant
finish. The mildly sweet drink cleansed the palate, and primed our taste buds
for the main course to follow.
The main course consisted of Chicken with
Paradore sauce served with cous cous and sole fish with cous cous. The Diced
chicken tossed in Paradore sauce is inviting to look at and delectable to
devour. The sole fish marinated well with herbs, stole my heart with its soft texture
and pleasing aroma.
After the tangy and saucy odyssey
of Latin American flavors, it was now time for the desserts. Parched – a chocolate
dish that is made with crispy rice flakes. It had the right proportion of sweetness that matched our expectations quite well.
To keep the sugar craving
going, the oozing chocolate sauce was added to elevate the succulent taste. We sealed
the meal with a serving of Syphon Drip Coffee. Made with exotic coffee beans
from Latin America, this coffee pleases the mind, body and soul.
I loved my experience @ Nueva.
The unique flavors of the dishes helps to impart flavor while giving justice to
the taste buds.
